Notes: Aged for 6 months in Wild Turkey® barrels, this bourbon barrel-aged pumpkin ale is pleasantly creamy with a silky body and sweet caramel flavor. The aging process imparts notes of coconut, vanilla, and oak to compliment the tang of the spices and a hint of hops, all wrapped in a smooth, round finish.

Pours dark brown with a two finger beige head, with good retention and lacing. The aroma has cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and Bourbon.

The taste is a toned down version of the aroma. Toned down to the point where there isn't that much flavor. Disappointing compared to the aroma.

Light bodied, bordering on watery, with very low carbonation. I can't believe that a beer that started out so promising with the appearance and aroma, finished so blandly.

Pours a deep deep dark clear red with a rocky off white head about 0.75 inches high. The nose is of spice and burbon barrel. Alright burbon and pumpkin go together well. It is a pumpkin beer until the backend then you get the barrel. Very well done.

"Malt beverage brewed with pumpkin and spices and aged in Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels." Brewed in the style of a Barrel Aged Pumpkin Ale. Released in the fall of 2014, available in 22 oz. bottles.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle to a tulip glass. Served above 56º Fahrenheit.

(Appearance) Pours a pale tan-gray head of a creamy frothed consistency over a deep maple brown with good clarity and mild flecked sediment. Retention is very good and lacing is light and spotty. 4

(Smell) Maple bourbon up front, notes of vanilla, oak, lightly toasted caramel syrup and subtle earthy spices. The aroma is very sweet overall. Pumpkin is largely absent in the aroma. Potency is medium. 3.5

(Taste) Smooth bourbon-like syrup and molasses sweetness up front, vanilla extract, a touch of nutmeg and licorice spice linger on the finish. The pumpkin again doesn't come through very well although the bourbon flavor is very easy to locate, it's suspiciously easy drinking and not at all boozy. I found it too sweet overall from all the sugary syrup characters piled up in it. 3.5

(Mouthfeel) The texture is silky smooth, slick and mildly sticky. Carbonation generates a soft crispness for a mildly airy mouthfeel. The body is medium+ for the style, medium+ overall. Balance is medium sweet over earthy and bitter. The alcohol presence is mild, and there are no off characters. 3.5

(Overall) This was a fairly disappointing pumpkin ale considering price and the shallow range of pumpkin flavor it has. There's nothing overly ambitious about the Bourbon character either, which is about as easy drinking and clean as Bourbon gets. Altogether incredibly sweet and filling but it misses on just about every Bourbon-Pumpkin Ale expectation that I was hoping it would fulfill. At its current stage its passable but not exceptional. 3.5

750ml bottle. Appearance: Deep brown, nearly black and opaque, with a low khaki foam head. Aroma: bourbon, oak, vanilla dominate. Slight nutmeg character, but barely there. Taste: Rich malt sweetness, strong oak and vanilla, with a balancing bitterness and hint of nutmeg and clove on the finish. Pumpkin spicing only noticeable on the swallow, and very low. Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with low carbonation. Leaves some alcohol warmth. Finish: definite oak and vanilla linger in the finish. Leaves minimal pumpkin spice. Overall: Pumpkin spicing is minimal and overpowered by a strong barrel character of bourbon, oak, and vanilla. A good beer, but would love to see a better balance of the pumpkin spice vs. the oak character.

22 oz bottle was poured into a snifter.

Appearance: A one off white head was poured that reduced to a thin layer. It is a crimson mahogany color with no vision of anything. Spotty lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Vanilla, pumpkin, yammy, spices, toasted, caramel, and a little booze.

Taste: Same as above, but light and subtle flavors of each. Easy drinking and simple.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, light to medium bodied, a little chewy, spicy, a little booze, and medium carbonation.

Overall: Nice barrel aged pumpkin and spiced beer. A little more of everything would be nice and make this a tastier beer.
