This slightly sweet porter is brewed with select additions of crystal malts and sea salt to create flavors of peanut brittle and caramel without being cloying. The medium body and mouthfeel lay the perfect foundation to support the rich vanilla, oak, and bourbon flavors imparted by extended aging in Wild Turkey barrels.

22 oz. bottle poured into a becher.
Pours a rich root beer brown with two plus fingers of tan sudsy head that eventually diminishes to one half finger that builds nicely with a swirl and has fairly heavy lacing. The mild nose is somewhat disappointing as I couldn't detect any notes of bourbon barrel, just a mild caramel cola aroma that I usually get from porters.
It tastes of the same cola/ caramel character that becomes more prominent as the pour warms. A small amount of bourbon barrel flavor does come through as well as some saltiness. The salt and caramel are there but not really together like you want, it's more of an incidental contact situation. A slight tang and a hint of hop flavor come at the finish before leaving me with a bit of roasty aftertaste that builds as I drink. Nothing cloying in the fairly quick finish.
The feel is good, smooth, soft and slightly frothy. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation and no heat this one is care free and easy drinking. All together it is decent, certainly easy to drink but it somewhat misses the mark for being bourbon barrel aged and to me isn't a standout.

Anderson Valley Bourbon-Barrel Aged Salted Caramel Porter has a medium, beige head and a caramel-brown, opaque appearance, with minimal glass lacing. The aroma is of bourbon barrel. The flavor is of that, with some dark malts and caramel, as it warms. A.V. Bourbon-Barrel Aged Salted Caramel Porter has a light body and a dry finish.

22oz bottle into a pint glass. NO freshness dating.
Pour a a dark brown with a small tan head. This quickly shrinks to a thin ring of and faint covering. No lacing.
Aroma is bourbon light with some even fainter caramel flavor.
On tasting, the bourbon aspect dominates, but it's not overwhelming. There are some hints of caramel here and there. It's a little sweet. No salt. No roast to speak of. A few raisin hits.
Mouth between thin and medium, finish warm and boozy, stronger than the abv.
Overall, the barrel aspect makes it a bit one dimensional. A few other flavors make fleeting appearances, but not enough for balance.

12oz can (nice! I dig the smaller format compared to those big 750ml bottles) poured into a snifter; thinner dark brown pour with a fairly airy off-khaki head that surprisingly sticks around for a few moments; sweeter nose and palate, with caramel and some chocolate notes really shining and the oaky whiskey coming through slightly, with a drying bitterness on the back end with notes of saltiness on both the nose and the palate. At 6% I wasn't expecting a big, chewy porter, but the body here (like most Anderson BA dark beers) suffers from a thin mouthfeel. Overall this is tasty though.

Poured from a bomber into a Dogfish Head tulip
L: Dark, dark brown pour.. nearly black with big fluffy mocha colored head. Nice lacing.
S: Malty... toasted grains and a bit of roast. Coffee/cocoa and bourbon.
T.F: Lighter bourbon than expected. Lightly roasted malts and chocolate. Dark sugars and some vanilla/oak. Not as sweet as expected... a bit of hop bitterness. Medium to light bodied... goes with the lower ABV. Fairly smooth.
O: A decent but light BA porter. Lacked some of depth of flavor I was expecting, but I guess that goes with the low ABV. Not a must-try, but I'd have it again.

Poured from a can into a snifter glass, giving around a finger or head that faded soon to some lacing and finally faded a while later. Dark brown color, but translucent. Smells faintly of caramel and bourbon. Taste is faint caramel with a tiny bit of salt, with bourbon following. Not too sweet or boozy. Light-medium body with not too much carbonation. Not as much of a dessert beer as I was expecting, definitely good if you like bourbon.

Caramel brown with a tall head for the 4 oz pour.
Aroma is faint but has slight caramel and oak.
Flavor is nearly all bourbon barrel which is not a terrible thing but really masks the beer. Some slight caramel, maybe very faint salt if the imagination is used, but mostly hot whiskey and slight toffee.
Feel is not thin, but medium bodied and very hot.
Overall, would have liked more beer peeking through. This one is definitely for bourbon/whiskey fans, I liked it but didn't fall in love with it. Needs more balance. Could really kill if they barrel aged the salt and caramel and added it in copious amounts.

Not bad I do get some sweetness and a good dose of bourbon dispite it's low ABV. A nice little bb aged beer with a good 3 dollar price tag
