By adding rose hips to the boil and fresh raspberry puree at the end of fermentation, this kettle-soured beer is a mélange of flavors and aromas. 12oz can - I'm sure that they had fun coming up with this one's name, especially if 'framboise' is pronounced in the manner of most English speakers.

This beer pours a slightly hazy, pale orangish salmon colour, with three chubby fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and somewhat creamy off-white head, which leaves some mountaintop snow line lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.

It smells of raspberry puree, muddled domestic citrus rind, gritty and grainy cereal malt, white saltine crackers, and some rather mild earthy, musty, and floral hop bitters. The taste is grainy and crackery pale malt, rosewater, a faded smooshed raspberry essence, saline, and more well-understated herbal, leafy, and grassy green hoppiness.

The carbonation is fairly active in its palate-tickling frothiness, the body a so-so medium weight, and generally smooth, once you get acclimatized to the mild tart character here. It finishes trending dry, the raspberries holding on for dear life amongst the lingering graininess.

Overall - this is a pleasant enough version of the style, with the guest ingredients applied in cautious doses. Crisp, refreshing, and easy to put back as the temperatures outside start to feel a little more Spring-like.

The Anderson Valley team has come as close to perfecting the gose as any brewery can. Their flirtation with fruit and spice combinations have taken many twists and turns- all of them stellar in their own right.

Enter Framboise Rose: a pale mauve ale that sparkles in the glass similar to rosé wine except capped with a short but stark white froth. Its simple but sharp aroma is all about the tangy raspberry fruit that dances on a tart base of citrus, cider and white wine. Its taste is scantly sweet with hints of pulled candy, sourdough and wine cooler.

What sweetness does present itself on the early palate drifts away effortlessly on the middle. The fruit complement from fermentation lays a sour base of lime, lemon, crabapple and sour white grape and then the bolder overcast of tart raspberry provide a strong red berry flavor that sees of currant, cranberry and cherry with subsequent sips.

Light bodied, sour and sharp, the beer's acidity scrubs any thirst from the palate with ease. Highly crisp, clean and refreshing, the beer evades the palate without hardly a hint of earth, must or hay. Low bitterness allows the late palate to reflect a disctinctly sour taste that provides a short, simple and succinct aftertaste.

12 oz can

Pours clear light golden pink, white sudsy head retains well.

Smells of fresh tart raspberry and citrus over cracker malts.

Tastes of tart fresh citrus and berry, cracker malts and lactic acid.

Medium body, tingly carbonation on the tongue.

Solid lightly fruity gose, good flavor and tastes genuine without any medicinal bitterness some raspberry beers have. Very refreshing and drinkable.

12 ounce can into tulip glass; no can dating, but is a recent release. Pours crystal clear pinkish golden/orange color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light pink head with good retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big juicy/tart/tangy raspberries, fruit skin, cranberry, strawberry, lemon, lime, pear, green apple, red grape, rose, sea salt, coriander, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, light pepper/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/acidic yeast, raspberries, rose hips, and moderate pale/wheat malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big juicy/tart/tangy raspberries, fruit skin, cranberry, strawberry, lemon, lime, pear, green apple, red grape, rose, sea salt, coriander, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, light pepper/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang, and light yeast spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart raspberries, fruit skin, cranberry, strawberry, lemon, lime, pear, green apple, red grape, rose, sea salt, coriander, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, light pepper/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, raspberries, rose hips, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; with a great malt/tartness and tangy fruit balance. Mild increasing pucker after the finish, but not overwhelming. Moderate increasing dryness from tart/sourness, tangy fruit, and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, bready/grainy/acidic/tangy/tannic, and lightly sticky/saline balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.2%. Overall this is an excellent gose. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, raspberries, rose hips, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink with the modestly acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish. Not overly lactic or salty. Great balance between the Lacto, raspberries, and rose hips; with a solid pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity. Fruit does not dominate the beer, still tastes like the style intended. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

The beer pours out a pinkish rose color, with 1 finger of off white head----------- the aromas are of tartness, wheat, raspberry soda and grass/floral------------- the flavors start off tart with wheat, grass and watered down berry, the beer has a thin mouthfeel with a dry salty finish------------- overall this beer was good it was just one dimensional, I wanted to taste more raspberry it was just tart and dry that's about it--

Orangey-pink, with slight , but moderately persistent white head.

Smells of dried raspberry , and the lactic sour-fresh aroma, typical of goses.

Taste follows nose , with lingering jammy sourness, and slight drying bitterness, and cracker (wheat) on finish.Maybe a very tiny bit of saltiness , after everything else is gone.

Feel is light , with very fine carbonation tingle on the finish, that lingers for a bit.

Overall, another good gose from Anderson Valley. Thoroughly enjoyable.
