RB

2014 Bittercreek Funkfest.... Pours a clear pink with a hint of orange... white head rises up and leaves a decent cap... no lacing to speak of, still a very pretty brew.

Nose is more fruity than funky/wild... light oak... a bit of residual pale malt sorta distracts from the fruity qualities.

Flavor mirrors the aromas.... fruity notes are pretty much in the background, the essence is there but it definitely doesn't clobber you with the berries... a little something that reminds me of leather. Seems like a training wheels sour. Light body and pretty drinkable.

A: pours a clear orange with two fingers of cream-colored head that fades into a frothy ring with a little lacing.

S: sour and tart raspberry aromas dominate here with some underlying Belgian sweetness.

T: tart raspberries are strong here as well with a little lacto sourness and Belgian yeast flavors. The finish is dry and tart.

M: light body with medium carbonation, this beer is nicely carbonated and drinkable.

O: a solid sour overall. Not much depth, but tasty and enjoyable.

Poured at The Beer Growler, Savannah, Georgia. Pours ruby red, nice white head, not much retention though, as is the norm with the style. Tart, funky, raspberry nose. Packs a warhead like sour punch, with the chardonnay barrels and raspberries taking just a little bit of the edge off. Excellent wild ale.
