Style: Pumpkin Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.00%

Availability: Fall

Notes / Commercial Description:
With a brilliant, deep copper hue and creamy beige-colored head, our Fall Hornin’ Pumpkin Ale has inviting aromas of caramelized malt and baking bread with highlights of cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin and seasonal spices. The pleasantly creamy mouthfeel and silky body embrace the sweet caramel flavors and tang of spices (with just hint of hops) that ends in a smooth, round finish.

Poured can into dimpled seidel.

L: Thin ring of beige head. Surprisingly dark red-brown color.

S: Lots of pumpkin and nutmeg.

T: Same as nose, but with a strong backbone of bitter clove. Bready malts, too.

F: Smooth, with a dry finish.

A good entry in the much maligned pumpkin beer roster. A little off balance with the clove, but very smooth. I can see this one being great much later in the fall, as it gets even colder.

Poured into a clear mug, the appearance was a deep burnt orange color with a finger's worth of white foamy head that slid off at a moderate pace. Not much lace, seemed barely there.
The aroma had some pumpkin pie sweet bready to muffin-like character touching down on some allspice, ginger and cinnamon.
The flavor was moderately sweet with a touch of spice for balance. Mild aftertaste of pumpkin that added in that muffin/breadiness nicely.
The mouthfeel was almost medium bodied, seemed to sit just a touch under with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt as projected. Mainly a smooth pumpkin sweet/muffin/bready sort of finish.
Overall, as a pumpkin ale, this is pretty good. I could see myself having again.

12 oz. bottle poured into a tulip glass.

L---Dark brown with a ruby tinge to it. Thick tan head that quickly dissipates and leaves some nice lacing.

S---Very prominent pumpkin pie aromas. I'm not sophisticated enough to tell them apart.

T---Pumpkin pie spices come through clearly.

F---Creamy & wet.

O---Nice, but pumpkin beers just aren't really my thing. I suppose it's good for what it is.

DATE: October 13, 2017... OCCASION: LVR's homecoming ends with Hackettstown finally bettering them... GLASSWARE: Barley Creek pint... pours a deep amber, almost brown hue that permits little light... what light cracks through the glass is lively... the soft, snow-white single-finger stands attractively at attention... thick scent of pumpkin, cinnamon, and nutmeg, while the thick bready malts are lightly toasted and caramelized... light allspice can be sensed as well... a smooth draw at its first sip, the creamy mouthfeel arrives with a vibrant finish... strong, medium-bodied and lingering at its end... cinnamon and nutmeg at the forefront, with caramel and lightly toasted bread malts... this wins with its multiplicity of flavors, fullness and drinkability....

Pour is medium to dark brown. A little heavier beer than I prefer, but taste is overall very good. Caramel pumpkin and light spice all evident.
Would def buy again but no more than a six pack, that will last me through the fall/pumpkin beer season

Anderson Valley Fall Hornin' Pumpkin Ale, 6% ABV, 20 IBU. Pours thin and dark brown, with a two finger off-white head. Nose is pumpkin, caramel, and some pumpkin pie spice, taste follows with a slight bitter close. Decent mouthfeel, though a bit heavy on carbonation. Overall very good.
