Had a chance to stop by and try leon's out on a recent Friday night, apparently everyone else in Atlanta decided to do the same. This place was crazy crowded at about 9pm, but the service was quite good. There were a lot of waitresses and they were quick, efficient, and very good at handling the crowd. We were seated quickly outside and even though we were chased indoors by a biblical downpour shortly after being seated, they found us a new table quickly.

The atmosphere is great. They put a lot of effort into designing this place and it shows. While it is pretty small, it flows well and handles a huge crowd in reasonable comfort.

The beer selection is quite good. It is more limited than the Brick Store, but everything on tap is very good and even the most high strung beer snob could find something to be happy with here.

The food is obviously the main show. The menu isn't huge, but Goddamn, everything is good. The frites are a must try and come with your choice of two of their many sauces (we chose garlic aioli and tarragon bacon mayo). I also had an excellent salad and steak sandwich. Others I was with tried the veggie loaf, seared scallops, and a fruit cobbler. Everyone seemed quite happy.

Leon's is a must try. Great food, great beer; I only wish there was something like this closer to home.

Great beer and food, especially the fries. It's just a great place to hangout and corrupt younger relatives.

Visited Leon's for the first time this weekend. According to our waitress, Kathryn (who was absolutely amazing with recommendations and even took a beer back that I hated), these are the same guys that own The Brick Store.

The food was absolutely delicious. We had pub fries with all kinds of great dipping sauces, and the candied walnuts on the salad that I got must have been dusted with angel tears. They were out of two things that we ordered, but they brought us a free dessert to make up for it.

The beer selection is nowhere near as good as the Brick Store. The menu here is much more cocktail driven. However, the beers were decent if not rare. Combined with the service, food, and the totally rad Bocce court in the backyard, this is a fantastic spot.

met some high school friends at this joint. cool vibe - reformed antique store with a cool outdoor patio

tap selection was strong, but not groundbreaking - some standard (but great) belgians, founders reds rye, a terrapin, a southern tier or two, victory, new belgium and the like

food menu was thoughtful - a lot of small plates and sandwiches. We went with the calamari plate (nothing special), some frites that were paired with some great sauces and then I moved into the open faced brisket sandwich with a warm chickpea and cherry salad. overall, food was pretty impressive.

cool joint - right around the corner from the brickstore - decatur is a pretty solid hood

Had dinner at Leon's with my wife and an old friend, at his suggestion. What a great suggestion it turned out to be. The ambience was relaxed and cool casual. The service was outstanding and the young waitress was quite educated on beer, even offering recommendations with food pairings.
The food was outstanding. The roasted chicken and pomme frites were delicious. I enjoyed Terrapin Hopsecutioner on tap but their other selections ensured that I would be back to try them.
The prices were fairly reasonable, selection of beers was quite good and service was exceptional. A very pleasant evening indeed.

First time visiting Leon's and hope that there are many more visits to come.

We arrived at around 6:30 or so on a Friday evening, the place was pretty well full but there was no line or wait and was seated promptly. We choose to sit outside, since it was a nice evening and the place was pretty open to the outside anyway (all the windows and doors open). Seemed to be ample seating inside and out and had a good vibe going even though it was a bit early in the evening. The crowd seemed to have really picked up by the time that we left an hour and a half later. I didn't really get a good look at the interior, but I am sure that it is how others described it.

Upon being seated, we were greeted promptly by our server. As noted by others, the menus, both beer and food, are not overly extensive, which I view as a good thing for most top notch food places. As for the food menu, a nice variety of items to choose from. I had the burger and frites with a couple of Mikkeller East Kent Golding Single Hop IPA. The food was very well done and the frites were outstanding. As for the beer, the restaurant had a good list, not extensive as say the Brick Store, but they had a variety of styles to choose from.

The waiter was good, knew both the food and beer menu well and could talk very intelligently about the beers they had to offer. The prices were reasonable. Overall, as I noted above, I hope that this is the first of many visits to Leon's.

Did I just have Angel's Share and Mongo on tap? Yes, I did. Finished off with a Southern Tier Choklat. The glassware and temperature were right on. Excellent selection and a must stop if you are visiting Decatur. The beer selection is always very good and underrated. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and the food is excellent. As an aside, they also have a nice selection of signature cocktails, (Sazerac anyone?)and and a very good and affordable wine list. My only regret was that it was a bit too chilly to play bocce outside on their clay court, but maybe next time!

Have been here a few times, but I'll review this past time I went...

Arrived on a Friday night around 7:30. The place was a mixed, but crowded crowd. We had to wait around 40 minutes for a table, but that's fine - we entertained ourselves with some beer at the bar.

The bar area is nice, laid back, open to the outside. The outdoor area is even better. On a nice night sitting outside Leon's is one of the best atmospheres in town IMO. Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of the inside seating area. I just stay away from there.

The quality of everything was top notch. The beers are appropriate temperature, fresh, and served in correct glassware.

The people that work here know their stuff. They can answer most any question about the beer and food menu. I'm happy.

The selection is good, but not as good as Porters or Brick Store (but it's not supposed to be). We were happy to be able to order a Black Ops, despite the slightly high price tag.

The food is good. I wish the menu was a bit more extensive, but everything I've had was very good.

Prices are reasonable (usually). Bottles can get expensive, but drafts are priced appropriately.

Great casual atmosphere.

Monday night flight night:

All Oaked Up - Generous 4oz pours of Dogfish head Burton Baton and Great Divide Rumble ($5) paired with a grilled shrimp, olive and avocado salad ($8).

2nd flight - UK v. Belgian, Harviestoun Bitter and Twisted and Anker Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor ($6).

Flights are served on a sheet of paper that describes each beer in detail, for the beer geek in all of us. Music plays softly and is all 50's doo wop (I didn't think anyone still played this stuff). The bar staff (where I ate) is super friendly and clearly into the beer, food pairing and making you feel at home. When they were out of the pork schnitzel the bartender was quick to recommend one of his personal favorites - Currywurst, which is a grilled mettwurst w/Maddres curry catsup ($5).

On tap: Allagash White, Popperings Hommel, Bitter & Twisted, Foret, Bell's Two Hearted, Terrapin's Hop Karma & Gamma Ray, the Duchesse, Chimay White, Founder's Red Rye, Stone Ruination, Lefthand's Milk Stout, Mikeller Monk's Elixer and McChouffe.

The bottled beer offering looked extensive, but I was there for the drafts.

A unique place that I will certainly return to.

As others have said, this place is owned by the same owners as the Brick Store Pub. As expected from those guys, this place is world class as well. Great building that started its life as a gas station long ago and morphed into other business. They've kept the basic footprint of the gas station, and some of its retro appeal, but they've enclosed the pump area into a dining room, added a nice, rustic patio out front, a Bocce court on the side, and architectural details inside including a beautifully sinuous bar, lots of modern looking wood accents, and the original garage doors that have been jazzed up and open to the elements when the weather cooperates. Overall, this is a beautiful space and a nice spot to have a beer- or dinner. They have a very nice beer selection- not as voluminous as the Brick Store Pub, but very well chosen. You won't find rarities here for the most part, but you will find excellent beers for a fair price. I also love the fact that you can get single glasses from some select bombers and 750s here. I also love the cocktails- lots of housemade ingredients, and a nice mix of classics and bartender created libations. Miles makes some of the best cocktails in Atlanta. The food is excellent. A nice mix of high end bar food and some well executed simple plates of excellent ingredients. I love the seared scallops, and the fact they have Benton Farms bacon. I head here for a change of pace from the Brick Store, or If I'm meeting less beer savy friends, or if I want a more refined meal or cocktail. Brilliant!
