Pours a beautiful ruby-tinted amber with a nice creamy white head. The head has only slight retention, a thin film being all that's left after about 3 seconds. The aroma is starts out decent, mostly non-descript malts, but with a little hint of hops but gets a weird sour quality as it opens up. The taste is okay but it's hard to describe. There are some grains and some hops but it just doesn't go well together. The body has a nice weight to it and just a hint of carbonation.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a medium dark brown color with a small white head. The aroma is big on malt with some hops and maybe some grain tossed in. The flavor is slightly odd with a nice mild hop bite, it grew on me with each sip. Overall, a pretty good beer.

Nice reddish-amber ale. Minimal head, smooth feel and taste. Very drinkable with some caramel and smokiness. Absolutely no after taste. One of the better ales from a microbrewery. I hope this gets outside the Commonwealth so others can enjoy it.

I enjoyed brew this at the Fork in the Alley restaurant in Roanoke, Va. (Go for the pizza! It's worth it!!)
