Treated as a winter warmer, this was poured into a mug. The appearance was a dark brown color with a good finger and a half worth’s of white foamy head. Dissipates mildly with a messy lace roaming all around. The aroma bleeds ginger, allspice, and caramel malts. Grassy hops seek to balance decently. The flavor leads with the same aromas. Sticky caramel malt backbone seems to really impound the aftertaste to run into the finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation feels fine. Overall, good as a winter warmer, maybe again.

Appearance: red-brown with white lace foam

Smell: bready, malt

Taste: "It's an IPA."

Mouthfeel: Smooth, medium body and solidly carbonated.

Overall: I didn't expect to open an IPA, it's an IPA. It's fine.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a dark orange amber with a thin off-white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel and lightly bready malt, brown sugar, light piney and grassy hops, a hint of spiciness. Flavor is dry caramel malt, piney and grassy hops with a bit of dankness, citrus in the background. Finishes with a piney, resinous hop finish. Medium bodied. A nice rich malt ale made spicy through its hops. No winter spices detectable, but still a suitable entry into the winter warmer style, there is lots of pine flavor here for the season.

22oz bottle from "Roths Sunnyslope Market" in S. Salem $3.99 Darker amber/red ale with a good sized, long lasting light tan head. Aromas of toffee/caramel malts and spruce/piney hops, also getting faint licorice nice really. Taste is way malty at first deep toffee and treacle notes, touch of licorice then satisfying deep hoppiness..finishes semi dry..and long long pleasing finish. Lovely thick yet moving fast mouth feel. A really nice satisfying winter ale..loved it

Very reddish and deep brown mahogany body with a little off-white/brownish lace sitting on top, not moving. A little carbonation throughout. Smell is of molasses and malt, sweet with some ethanol in there for sure. A little clove like. Still clean and crisp, with a bit of hops pushing through. A little acidic. Big warming alcohol pretense in the taste, especially in the front though its a bit watery here as well. Finish is very malty and dry and yeasty as well with some hop bitterness trying to overpower the ethanol notes.. This is good and good for a night like tonight thats very cold outside. Nice carbonation and medium mouthfeel.

Served on tap into a shaker glass at Hot Mama's Wings

A- Poured a dark brown with ruby hues shining through, frothy off-white head with some big bubbles that left some chunky lace

S- Rich caramel, toffee, and bready notes. Very malt forward aroma. Some metallic notes on the aroma

T- Rich caramel, toffee, and bready notes. Very malt forward. Some cherry and apple skin notes. Some citrusy and earthy hops on the finish.

M- Very smooth, medium to fuller bodied, some prickly carbonation, dry

O- A very nice malt forward winter ale with rich flavors.

Poured from 22oz bomber into a dimpled mug.

Appearance: medium brown hue with plenty of haze and a thin layer of frothy tan foam. There's a bit of a lace left on the glass, too, which is nice.

Smell: bready, biscuity amber malt with a bit of a piquant lemon aroma. Rather a bit like a run-of-the-mill amber ale, but not too bad.

Taste: very, very malty flavor with lots of bread, biscuit and toastiness. There's a definite bitterness here as well, and the hop character is piney, piquant and a bit earthy. It's good, and it has a lot of character, but it's basically like a strong amber ale.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a rocky carbonation and a relatively decent creaminess. Not too bad.

Overall: this beer is not bad for what it is, but it's not strongly to my taste.
