Tyskie Gronie

A- Bright clear yellow with a small soapy fizzy white head.
S- Sweet corn husk, honey, and straw.
T- Sweet honey touched hay/straw with sweet corn and corn husk.
M- Very light and watery with a light sweet finish. Slightly dry.

Overall- Bland. Easy to drink and good on a warm day but not worth seeking out.

Tyskie Gronie has a thick, white head, a mostly clear, bubbly, golden appearance, with a good amount of tiny white specks, throughout, and substantial lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of sweet, honey malt, possibly, corn, and grassy hops. Taste is of the same, with an even more prominent hop bitterness and noticeable biscuit malt qualities. Mouthfeel is low-medium, and Tyskie Gronie finishes crisp and refreshing.

Pours a light golden and features champagne like carbonation, and sports a moderate head for the style and a trace of sticky lace. Aromas are clean and typical with grainy malt aromas followed by very light hopping. A refreshing brew that goes easy on the hop and just right on the malt. This is exactly the kind of brew that you want when you stock up at the local Polish deli. And, we have alot of em here in Chicago. Just right with a deli tray, and some perogies.

Short white head pops its way to a thin film. Bright golden beer holds a few streams of bubbles. Lightly sweet pale malt in the nose and a pinch of herbal hops. Crisp clean Pils malt flavor up front that becomes corny towards the finish. The hops a tea tasting aspect to the beer. Mouthfeel is light and watery. Without the corny flavor it would make a nice Helles. It's not bad. You should be able to get past the corny notes, but I'd rather drink something different.

500 ml can, shared by my beerpal Olav, as Tyskie Gronie Grand Prix, which I expect to be the very same beer as the "ordinary" Tyskie Gronie (yes, the beer received some prizes in its time). The ABV is also the same (5.6%). Golden colour, big white head. Strong sweetish aroma of malts and candy. Soft mouthfeel. Standard pale lager flavour, nothing offensive about it. Moderate hops. Earlier Rating: 7/3/2005 Total Score: 2.6 500 ml can, had this served unexpectedly at the quayside somewhere in the Ryfylke fjords (it’s not imported to Norway, as far as I know). As it was for free, I couldn’t object to having to drink it from the can, which means I can’t really evaluate the appearance (I trust those who say it’s average or slightly above). Aroma of Saaz and possibly Hallertau hops. Clean tasting refreshing pilsener, nothing offensive, nothing remarkable. I’d be happy to drink it again, if it’s for free - but would like a glass the next time!

Just a plain jane lager that doesn't really distinguish itself in any negative or positive sense.

Clear pale yellow pour, non-existant head, no lace. Mild aroma of grain and hops. Clean to drink, but not particularly flavourful or interesting. Nicely carbonated.

Better than many of the other east-Euro lagers out there, inoffensive, drinkable.

It took me this long to get to a Polish beer. This one was on clearance for 99 cents at Cub Food, so why not. This is pretty good as this style goes. Pours a big temporary head over a golden body. Definite bitter hop taste seems to impart slight toasty quality to the malt. Smell is pleasant, but with slight oxidation, but that’s the chance you take.

Character in a book I'm reading was enjoying a Tyskie, and a local keeps single bottles in stock -- thought I'd give it a go. Had it many moons ago, but it didn't leave an impression then.

Best before 03.24.10 on the back label.

Euro Pale Lager isn't really in my style book, but I'm not even sure what the brewery might call this, so...

A -- Deep, clear golden color with a thick, off-white head. Helles, Pilsner, or Dortmund category here.

S -- Hmm, mildly skunky -- from a brown bottle. Not much else coming through.

T -- Some good, bready malts coming through with some mild hop spicy bitterness showing up, but all-in-all, pretty thin.

M -- Light body with a soft and slightly syrupy mouthfeel and a dry finish. Not terrible for any of the 3 styles mentioned above.

D -- Drinkability is good, nothing at all offensive or off in flavors. The skunky aroma doesn't linger. Not the first Pale Lager I'd reach for, but there's no reason to turn one down.

Pours a clear, pale yellow body with a two finger white head. Body is alive with carbonation bubbles. Good head retention and sporadic patch lace.
Aroma is subdued, with spicy hops and faint grainy sweetness.
Mouthfeel is light to light medium, with moderately high carbonation.
Tastes like an average Euro pale lager. Crisp carbonation, bitter herbal hopping, and light malt sweetness.
Drinkability is decent, but this one fails to impress.

My first taste of this beer two days ago. Found this beer to be richer tasting than expected and pleasant. Smell was not distictive in any way. Taste hints of charcoal and "chewiness" (body?). Mouthfeel OK. Verdict is still out on drinkability. Hits with an alcohol finish. It was "recommended" by the keeper of the cooler at a Jewel store in Illinois...had been "selling a lot of it lately. 5.7%, you know?", he said. I wasn't overly impressed, but I was surprised that I felt like I would buy it again, given the chance, a good price and depending upon what else might be in the cooler next to it for the same money.

Afterward, I noticed the bottle stamped with two dates...birth and death dates, I guess, both had passed, but the beer might actually still be worth the money....99 cents. Too bad, it's another Miller relative, hey?

(Dec 2005) Second taste...same. But the price has gone up to $1.19. Put another buck in and buy a 24 ounce Becks Bomber.

I like this. Pretty smooth and not too skunky. Has a familiar malt forward taste and goes down easy. Out of all the Polish beers I've tried so far I like this best
