Poured a jet-black color with a small, light brown head of foam. It smelled of bourbon, oak, vanilla and dark chocolate. Great roasty flavor with chocolate, vanilla, oak and booziness.

Black oily pour.

Not much on the nose, very weak, some oak character, fresh cooked pumpkin, molasses, vanilla, roast malts.

Flavor is barrel, vanilla, wood, cherry, molasses. And a beautiful rise of coffee breath after.

Feel is thick and huge just like it should be.

Worth seeking out. Super great!!

On tap. 2011 Release. Pours black with a tan, one finger head that dissipates moderately and leaves an inch of lacing down the tulip glass. Aroma of roasted coffee, oak, and sweet milk chocolate. Surprisingly chocolate forward, especially compared to later years of the release. Taste is roasted malts and chocolate with subtle notes of coffee and a sweet finish. Alcohol is in the finish, but not too strongly. Low carbonation and medium body with minimal amounts of lingering alcohol. Body is lighter than expected for a barrel aged imperial stout, but it has retained the expected creaminess.
It was aged in Jack barrels, and turned out differently than the 2012 and 2014 releases. It was lighter and sweeter overall than the later versions. I enjoyed the creamy, more chocolate and coffee forward notes to it and liked it better than the later oakier, boozier versions. 2011 ended up being more unconventional but still very enjoyable.

Been drinking this whole series today. 2015 vintage. Very thick like motor oil. Very Bourbon forward. Loving this beer. Coop knows their stouts.

2014 Reserve

Appearance- Black in color with a tan colored head. Pours about a finger of head that disappears quickly except for the outer edges.

Aroma- Dark chocolate, roasted malt, oak, and booze.

Taste- Sweet dark chocolate flavor at first then the oak barrel comes in with booziness, bourbon sweetness, and dry oak woodiness. Roasted malt bitterness shows up toward the finish and some caramel shows up i the aftertaste. Great balance between bitter and sweet flavor in this.

Feel- Full bodied, low carbonation, and some lingering malt stickiness but clean in the finish overall.

Overall- Pretty straightforward barrel aged beer, but nonetheless a great barrel aged stout. The feel is spot on, the balance keeps it from being cloying, and the barrel is clearly present but not dominate. Only bad thing about this beer was the price tag. Not sure the overall value warranted its price of $18, which sucks as it would have been nice to buy a few and see how the barrel flavors blend with the base beer.

Really booze heavy, but really good. It's not balanced but it is so chocolatey and delicious.
