I have tried well over 100 IPA's and most of the popular, highly rated ones from Dogfish, Goose Island, Founders, etc., etc. This little brewery in Oklahoma makes the best one, hands down. It delivers a classic IPA smell and taste that is off the charts. All IPA's are bitter and for a lot of people (including myself) they can be a little to harsh....not this one. You get the hoppy bitterness but it has an amazing smoothness and mouthfeel that adds a level of drinkablity that most IPA's don't have. Pay no attention to the negative reviews on this beer.......if you have a FRESH can there is no way it will disapoint.

It's a real shame what they've done to this beer. Recognized by various publications as the finest IPA made in Oklahoma, F5 has been a go-to for me.

I have no idea why, but along with transitioning from 16 oz to 12 oz cans, the beer has also had the recipe changed. The resulting brew is 85 IBU (vs 100+ previously) and 7.1% ABV. The result is a sort of watered down version of the original. More malt-forward than it was with less aggressive hop smell on the nose.

Still decent, but not the same. It almost seems like this page should be retired and a new page set up for the new recipe. Suggest others note whether the beer they're reviewing is 85IBU/7.1ABV or 100+IBU/6.8%ABV

A: Beautiful light amber color with a hint of red. Thin but persistent head of foam with great lacing.
S: Strong floral and piney notes with a hint of citrus.
T: Big hop bitterness but well balanced with body.
M: Good mouthfeel with medium carbonation.
O: One of my absolute favorite beers from COOP Ale Works. I try to get my hands on it any time I can.

I love Coop's F5.

When I'm home in Oklahoma, it's on tap at the bar I go to and everyone is drinking it.

the F5 is hopped with a combo of Columbus and Falconers Flight and while you might expect it (considering its IBU is 100) to be a bitter citrus bomb, it's a nicely balanced IPA. It tastes like sun in a glass--bright, hot, resiny, citrusy, and with a nice bite. This is a sit-down-and-drink-em beer as well as a drink-it-all-evening-and-dance beer.

I love it and will, on occasion, trade what I can get up here in NYC for a few super-fresh cans of this stuff.

16 oz can. Pours hazy golden orange with a medium frothy white head that goes to a film that leaves some lacing.

The aroma is sweet tropical and citrus fruit with some crystal malt and piney resiny hops.

The flavor is sweet tropical fruit with dank and resiny hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a bit watery.

Overall, decent fruity resiny IPA but a bit watery.

A very tight IPA that swirls just like the name.

On tap. Served in a pint glass. Pours a hazy, copper color with a white, one finger head that dissipates moderately leaving a small ring of lacing. Good aroma of pine and grapefruit with underlying malt. Taste follows the nose with citrus, grapefruit, and pine hops fronting a body that holds it own. Very balanced and not overwhelmed by the hops. Medium body and medium carbonation with no after tastes. Alcohol is well hidden and the beer is very drinkable.
This is my favorite OK IPA. Undeniably an IPA without hop madness overwhelming and making it too bitter. The hops shine through without eviscerating the malt body. Something worth checking out if IPA's with some malt are your thing.
