A slightly hazy unfiltered golden colour with a smooth, creamy, off-white head. Good head retention.

Lovely crisp hop aroma. Some nice citrus touches. Lightly sweet malt. Good.

A lightly sweet malt flavour with a clear caramel malt note. Slightly fruity with the passionfruit of the Ella hops being clear. Nice, crisp bitterness. A very easy drinking lager that combines flavour with elegance.

Medium body with moderately-high carbonation. Actually a little filling.

A nice beer. It exceeds expectations and the hops work nicely.

A few shades darker than golden, bordering on amber. Thin but stable white frothy head with a touch of lacing. Slight haze and carbonation looks to be on the low end.

Citrus, lemony, grainy. That about covers it.

Certainly different to the average Australian lager. Plenty of big character hops to go around. Light grainy malt combined with fruity hops and subtle bitterness. Components are good but they just don't quite come together. It seems to be a common trait among highly hopped light lagers but this one remains quite drinkable.

330ml bottle purchased from Slowbeer in Melbourne. This is a collaboration between Beer Here and Australian importer Northdown—an attempt to brew an "Australian lager which isn't like having sex in a canoe", using Galaxy and Ella (and perhaps other unspecified) hops. Bottle states that it was brewed on the 24th of October, ~2 months ago.

Pours a dark golden hue, with a fine and reasonably persistent (if small) head of white, which sits around as a ring around the edge, and a film in the centre. Body is light, and the carbonation is small and racing. Some patchy lace forms, occasionally. Look OK.

Nose is fragrant enough, with a biting sharpness from the Aussie hops, and a slight twinge of cat's piss. As it gets warmer, it strays pretty dangerously close to that Pride of Ringwood funk, but the sharpness keeps it slightly fresher and brighter—closer to Nelson Sauvin. The hops are key here, and there's very little else in the aroma.

Taste perhaps does get closer to PoR territory—there's certainly a woody, slightly sweaty character on the mid-palate, straying towards the back, even if the still-present sharper hops drive through this and pretend like it was never there.Slightly crisp character on the back, with a slightly fragrant candy sweetness, which drops out quickly, leaving a dry finish.

Feel is crisp and light—it could even survive a little more carbonation.

Overall, yeah, this is decent enough, and it's interesting to see some of the classic Aussie lager characters drawn out into a beer that's certainly more flavoursome and more refreshing than a VB or New. But there's something dusky and a little sweatily funky about it that does drag it down. By the end, it ends up being solid, but little more than that.
