Great tap list, sampler is a heck of a deal with 4 5.5 oz pours for $6. Nice little bottle list but you are paying a premium to purchase at a bar. Food looked good but I didn't have anything.

Great beer selection--some rarities and sometimes they bust out a keg of some really tough to find stuff from time to time--even sneak it out with no fanfare (Foothills Sexual Chocolate was a surprise). They offer samplers and bartenders are knowledgeable.

Atmosphere a little thin. Kind of sports bar like and in a mini-mall. Food is not the reason to go--average pub fare with some winners here and there (Cuban sandwich was a winner).

This is a beer site--not the family joint with great beer. More like the great beer joint to hang out with a couple of friends.

Few specialty events like Founders night, etc are well attended.

I love Duckworth's. They have dark beer on tap, pint nights, flights, and food. The atmosphere is definitely a bar first restaurant second. I prefer to have a 50/50 mix. Duckworths in general has upscale bar food. They do serve some non-standard bar foods like salads, BBQ, and pizza. I do feel that the food prices are a little high $10-15/plates, but I am very cheap and have very high standards. Beer prices are on par with what I expect everywhere else. I am willing to pay in order for Duckworth's to maintain the beer selection they have. They are the standard by which everyone else is rated.

This location does have some issues to resolve. This includes parking, service quality and speed. I have had amazing service including beer knowledge at an amazing level, but I have also had servers that were very green.

I drove 3 hours specifically for the Founder's Throwdown event. I'm a craft beer newb, but Breakfast Stout was my first favorite, so this was like Christmas. It was the middle of the afternoon on a saturday and a large event was going on, so seating was limited, but wasn't really an issue. My group of 3 found a spot in the two-sided bar island.

Beer event was well organized, lots of rare or hard-to-find Founders beers. It was organized by Curtis, the beer coordinator. He ended up hooking me up with a free DFH Chicory Stout, which was a nice bonus to the day's events.

Selection was great from what I saw. I could have drank all day and had something new every time off of about 60 taps. Didn't see the bottle list.

Food was good, but not outstanding. Some interesting sandwiches, but otherwise standard upscale tap house menu fare. Better than anything I can find in my hometown, though.

Very close to Brawley's, a natural one-two stop for a traveller in the area. Although the layout reminds me a little of some Taco Mac locations (big central bar, loads of TVs, etc) there was a surprising number of families with kids when I visited. All the adults seemed to enjoy good beer selection, at least based on my casual glance.

Craploads of taps, 50-60 I'd estimate, and all were serving good craft beer. Major breweries represented included NC (Big Boss, Duck Rabbit, Foothills, Olde Hickory), other USA craft (Allagash, Brooklyn, Ommegang, Oskar Blues, Terrapin), and a few internationals (Gouden, DuPont, Van Honsebrouck). Twice as many bottles, again all were solid.

Decent prices on most drafts, a little high priced for bottles.

Was refered to this place by the guys at Brawley's, down the road a quarter mile.

First impression, this place looks like more of a sports bar than your typical dark beer bar. But, the 60 taps on the wall quickly help you spot you're in for a treat.

The beer menu of tappers and bottles is both extensive and impressive, I was lucky enough to come across a day when they had Oskar Blues Vanilla Bourbon Barrel Old Chub on tap. How many times have you seen that one?

The night I was there, they had $3 taps (only a handful of exceptions) which apparently occurs every Tuesday and Thursday. The four sample flights are very generous and the staff is incredibly knowledgable.

A great place to drop by if you're in the area and want to visit a beer bar that only carries the god stuff.

Much like a beer style, opinions of Duckworth's will likely vary depending on what it is a costumer is looking for. If you want dark and cozy, Duckworth's doesn't do that. Duck's is more of a brass and glass type establishment, with lots of flatscreen TVs; it's a great place to watch a game. They could use a bigger bar though, it gets crowded in a hurry.

What do they do well? Well, food for one thing. Their fajitas are fantastic and will easily fill two people. Also good: subs, wings, pizzas, steaks... even their salads are on the money.

What do they do great? Beer. 60 drafts - every one of them a high quality brew & twice a week the vast majority are $3 (which includes tax).

Their events are quickly becoming the stuff of legend. For example... last years Stone tap takevoer featured 40 drafts:

My brother, my best friend, and I had the opportunity to spend a Friday night (dinner and Event Horizon release) and Saturday am (bottle release and a wonderful breakfst! Thanks guys!)

What a wonderful experience!!! Truly a great time. Met the owner and the manager...who thanked us many times for driving down to attend and check them out. Our servers were friendly and notch! You can tell that they are a tight knit group and that the employees love working there!

Food was very good...better steaks than we actually expected from a taproom (we ordered both the sirloin and the ribeye) Fare was fairly standard for a taproom...yet showed some extra care and creativity. If you like nachos, you will LOVE their fajita chicken nachos...THE BEST I have ever had!!

The beer...ohhh, the beer...over 60 on tap and maybe another 60 bottles. Their tap/bottle list is accurate and has many, many world class brews. Best quality selection I have encountered. You can get a "paddle" of any 4 beers from the tap selection (4.5 oz each)for only $6. So many little room in my stomach!

Thanks again to the owner/manager/staff of Duckworth's for an incredible time!

I happened to be in SC when I saw that Olde Hickory was releasing some Event Horizon here. I decided to make the trip to pick some up and check out the place.

It was an early morning event, so the place wasn't very crowded. After getting my wristband, I got a seat at the bar. The bar tender (Larry, I believe?) gave me the rundown on what they were offering that morning food-wise, and mentioned that they had Founders Kaiser Curmudgeon on tap as well as Event Horizon w/cocoa nibs on cask. I opted for the Kaiser, as I had missed out on it when it was around at home, and the pancakes w/Event Horizon maple syrup. Both were delicious. Looking over the tap list, there was way too much delicious stuff on tap (Oskar Blues BA Old Chub and BA Ten Fidy, Foothills BA Total Eclipse, 2010 Event Horizon, etc). Went with a cask Event Horizon next.

Prices were overall pretty good, and the bartenders were very knowledgeable. Bottle share was going on at the tables behind, which was cool that the place was fine with it. Really enjoyed the beer, food, and people. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and will definitely be back my next chance.

What can I say about Duckworth's that isn't already evident? They may not have the largest tap selection in town, but they definitely have the best tap and bottle selection in Charlotte. Just about every one of the servers knows a thing or two about the beer they are serving, and a handful are very knowledgable. The service is solid and the drinks and food come out relatively fast for a bar. If you know the right time to go, you can drink world class beer for a fraction of the price that you normally would, and even on a day without specials I rarely feel ripped off, like I do at so many other bars. The atmosphere is nothing special, not as much character as some of the smaller places, however it is a clean environment that serves great beer at good prices, which is the reason why we are all there in the first place isn't it? The food is better than you're average Bar/Grill and the chef comes up with great specials on the regular. Duckworths is a must for rare kegs/ specialty bottles in town, and my only complaint would be the atmosphere (minus the beer geeks), I wish it had a little more character to the place.

Duckworths in Charlotte is the number 1 tap in NC. With an amazing draft and bottle selection, good service, good menu, and great atmosphere. There is no place in Charlotte, regardless of how many taps they might have, that offers the selection and quality of beer that Duckworths does. Tuesday and Thursday all their beers ( except a few rare drafts ) are $3, that's the best deal in town!!! If your just visiting the area or live close by this is a must visit taphouse and grill. Weekly food specials offer great food at great deals as well as amazing rotating features.

Visited on a Monday night in October 2011:

First ever visit to the place and sat down at the bar for a little food and to watch the baseball playoffs. I was greeted relatively quickly, but the guy looked at me like I should have had the tap list committed to memory already. I asked him for the list and he handed me a three page list. I asked him if all of them were on tap and finally he pointed out which ones were and then proceeded to stare and me until I made a decision, the Great Lakes Eliot Ness, an outstanding beer, by the way. I couldn't really try any of the bigger beers as I had to drive back downtown that evening. Regardless, after we got off on the wrong foot, the experience got better. I order some tacos, which were well done and proceeded to drink my beers and eat with little interruption. Currently, at least as of this review, the beer on cask is Olde Hickory's Death By Hops. Very good.

The place was pretty big, perhaps too big, but I am sure that it fills up on the weekends and Tuesdays and Thursdays. Overall, the place has a really good selection, mainly focused on NC beers, the beers that I had seemed to be fresh and it appeared that the others beers were being placed in the appropriate glassware. As I will be in Charlotte for a week or so and it is on my way back downtown, I will probably stop in once or twice more, just to try a few more N. Carolina beers. A good stop for beer lovers.

Duckworth's is a great friend to great beer and great beer is a great friend to Duckworth's. A fantastic selection of craft and sometimes rare beers not found anywhere else in this side of the country. They have several tastings and beer dinners too!!! Only ones in this wide area to host the Stone Total Tap Take Over.

Has many rotating taps (about 60 plus with 40 plus in Mooresville) there is never a time when true beer aficionados will not find several great to enjoy.

Now if that was all about Duckworth's to talk about, we could talk for days, but there is also great food. Try the Steak Salad, the wings and their CheeseSteaks.

If you are in Charlotte, north of Charlotte in Mooresville or anywhere close to their locations drop by. If you are not too close but not to far, drive by. You will not regret it. Duckworth;’s always has some very wonderful stuff on tap. Other may have the numbers, Duckworth’s has the quality. A passion for beer, that is Duckworths.

I drive past this place nearly everyday and finally got a couple of opportunities to stop, drink a couple, and grab a bite to eat. The two times I went were around 4 or 5, just before the happy hour/evening crowd was settling in. $3 draft on Tuesday and Thursday is a great value considering their selection. While they do have a great selection, I didn't find it any better than what I've found at Flying Saucer or Taco Mac's, so for that I think its been a bit overrated on other reviews. I found it odd that while they featured quite a few local breweries, OMB was nowhere to be found. The staff was polite, but one bar keep in particular was a bit aloof when I would ask basic questions about beers I was not familiar with. I expect the staff to have a bit more passion about the product than what was displayed. The food was good, but again nothing better than one would expect from a neighborhood grill. I will be back and hope to give a better review in the future.

The selection is insane! 60 taps of the dankest brews around! BA Ten Fidy, 3 year vert of Sexual Chocolate, Olde School etc. The Stone Total Tap Takeover was insane!

The food is very good! The jalapeno bacon is off the hook! Burgers are great! Wings are great! Haven't had anything I didn't like.

$2.50 drafts on Tue and Thur...Did you read that right? Yes you did! Spent many a lunch there on Tue and Thur!

Stopped in last night after a very long weekend. Have been in a couple of times before and I think this is THE craft beer bar in Charlotte, hands down!

A great selection that is always changing. Enjoyed a 2010 Sexual Chocolate, among a couple of others. You can always count on Duckworths to have hard to find beers, and some you have never heard of. A month ago I stopped in and had Duck Rabbits Pauls Christmas Vacation, and loved it! To top it off the bartender had the back story on the beer which makes it that much more special!

Always had great service here, in a very relaxed atmosphere that welcomes all walks. So sad to see two guys walk up to the bar and order bud light bottles, but hey, good for Duckworths for catering to that crowd as well.

This is a must for anyone visiting the Charlotte area!

PS There is always a firkin cask, gotta love that!!!

This place has a fantastic line-up of beers. I'm very picky, but this place was great as it had a lot of local, at least 12 NC beers, which I like to see from a multi-tap. Tues and Thurs they have all day $2.50 drafts, but the glass size is smaller for higher gravity beers, which I like and expect, but it is a very good deal. I had their lunch special burger, which was 2 patties and nicely done. They didn't ask how I liked it cooked, and I didn't ask, but it came out a little over done for my taste, probably my bad, but the meat was very good and not dried out. It was pretty home-made looking patties too, so I can see grandma in the kitchen! Anyway, the place was very clean, the bartender was a young woman and seemed to know the beers pretty well. Menu selection was regular pub grub type food, nothing that really stood out. The pub is located on a main road less than 2 miles from downtown. Parking looks a little limited, but ample in the afternoon. May be parking behind the building. Highly recommended!!!! The best beer bar I've been into in NC.

Tons of people have been telling me to stop by here and I finally went with a couple buddies...

We were seated quickly on a Sunday afternoon and were promptly introduced to our waitress Jen. She showed us our beer menu and we were pleasantly surprised to find a flight of beers for only $5.

Great deal here - you can choose 4 - 4 oz. draft beers for $5 !

My four : Foothills Torch Pilsner (Winston/Salem); Duck Rabbit Baltic Porter (Farmville, NC); St. Bernanrdus Xmas (Belgium); Allagash Curieux (Maine).

Thoroughly impressed with the selection, food, service, atmosphere.

Will visit again soon.

I have enjoyed going to Duckworths several weeks in a row on Tuesday and Thursday nights to frequent to 2.50$ special everyone else is talking about. The opportunity to taste several different styles of beer you may have not otherwise tried.

The plate of nachos that you can get there for the price is simply amazing and enough to share between 3 people comfortably.

The wait staff are all friendly and some can offer pairings to compliment your meal or style. I have only had to wait once for an extended period of time, only because they were having football that night. Seems like there is a good mix of food and beer for everyones taste and I will definitely bring people from out of town to visit for a great evening.

It's more of a beer bar that serves good food (flat screens, sports on TV, etc.) than a restaurant with a great beer selection. Oh, and it definitely has a great beer selection with very knowledgeable servers. Food is very good and reasonably priced. Beer is really well priced, especially on Tuesday / Thursday with $2.50 pints (almost all of the 60 craft beers qualify). So 60 craft beers on tap, and probably another 100 or so in bottles (which can be carried out).

They host beer events (Stone & Founders come to mind).

There are some places in Charlotte with good beer lists and better food, but this place is really the beer lovers oasis....and they've got good food.

Heard of the place, saw a post about their selections of limiteds they were going to tap and had to make it out there.
Atmosphere was a lot like that of your traditional sports bars: cute waitresses, sports (football) on the televisions, with a small twist -- craft beer instead of BMC crap. So very favorable. I think the quality overall was really awesome. Service was very attentive and the waitress was very knowledgeable about the craft scene. Food was fantastic. Value -- lets put it this way I got a draft of Foothill's Sexual Chocolate for five dollars. Now you know value.

Been here many times old and new, time to review.
The place to stop if only one bar you can shop.

Large selection of limiteds, locals, seasonals, national micros. Reasonable prices, for the most part, and specials keep things flowing through. This past Sunday, Sexual Choc, Barrel Aged Ten Fidy, Event Horizon, Silent Night, DR Christmas Vac, Founders Harvest on cask. Any given day you could potentially run into a list like that.

Find the service a bit slow sometimes when there by myself, apparently I don't stand out enough. Still they know what they're doing and are fine once they do see me.

Pizzas and Cheese Steaks are very good.
Atmosphere is just fine, I like the televisions, but there is usually someone sitting around willing to talk beer or whatever. Doesn't have the flavor of old building in a downtown area somewhere, but it's about the beer when you stop here.

Ah Duckworth's. In my opinion, you are the standard bearer for a craft beer bar in Charlotte. The Saucer is great, but it's location is not. The Saucer's selection is very good, but you try harder to get the rarer stuff on tap more frequently. You try harder to have the special events like the Stone Tap Takeover. You engage your customers in beer-centric conversation. You have those delightfult $2.50 draft days. Your steak and egg cheesesteak is excellent. Your new spot rocks. Your atmosphere is a bit bland, but I can see that it is a work in progress. A little seasoning over time should solve that issue. That would be preferable than putting up neon signs and chachkis everywhere. I don't need to see another pair of snowshoes mounted to a wall anytime soon.

I stopped by while visiting Charlotte with the family. I wasn't sure I'd have time but they had Old Hickory's Death by Hops on the tap list so I made time.

It's in a strip mall in a very commercial area with lots of stores around it. The building seems new and seems to have been built as a strip mall so it doesn't provide much atmosphere. The space is very wide and not very deep so there's lots of light coming in from the front windows. The large bar has lots of TVs within clear site. I was there on a Sunday and they were showing several NFL games. There was a football crowd enjoying both the games and the craft beer.

The taps were extensive and well organized behind the bar. They carry lots of NC beers and plenty of US favorites.

I'd need more time at Duckworth's to decide what I really think but they certainly deserve a very high rating from the selection alone.

Infamous Charlotte bar - reopened in a new space. I never hit the old spot, but the buzz made this a must hit on my first night in Charlotte for the thanksgiving holiday.

It's a nice new place, with a restaurant layout featuring a nice sized bar and a separate eating area with booths and tables.

The bar has 5 nice flat-screens providing some nice viewing options. There's plenty to be said for the craft beer bars with no "distractions", but hell, i really like sports.

Service was good - not sure the bartender was their most knowledgable but she was definitely doing her best with other customers who needed some assistance.

Ah yes, the beer list. 45ish taps - pretty much all quality and 2 printed pages of bottles, virtually all high quality.

I stuck with the taps - still 6-7 taps leftover from the stone takeover. It takes a lot to distract a consumer from that many quality stone offerings, but the rest of the list was killer. 4 from foothills, a few from bells (including expedition), a handful from founders, a few from terrapin, a couple from olde hickory, a handful from oskar blues, allagash, the bruery, bear republic, and on and on.

It's very clear that this taplist is chosen carefully and you can tell that individual loves doing what they do.

This rivals any place i have seen in NC, easily, and with a location a block from Brawleys, will be a place I frequent every time i'm in Charlotte (once known as beer hell, but hopefully thats changing).
