Tasting stronger, spicier and fruitier than the common Belgian pale ale, the character of something stronger looms. De Musketiers are certainly getting the most from this recipe but at a more subdued strength.
Antigoon's yeast-centric scent revolves around the fruitiness of lemon, apple, pawpaw, apricot and honeydew with a balance of clove, white pepper and vinous white wine. Buried deep within its hazy gold appearance, the taste is sweet with honeysuckle, light sugar cookie and fresh dough.
As the flavors bloom on the tongue, its floral character quickly turns spicy. Delicate sweetness begins to favor a savory cashew and toasted elegance while its estery center becomes rich with stone fruit and marmalade. White wine adds a zing of acidity while the hops carry a grassy, hay-like finish with a firm spicy bite to contend with lingering sweetness.
Fuller than expected, the beer's premiere honey finish begins to resemble caramel and the beer's peppery spice brings out a stronger alcohol sensation than is actually there. Drinking much more aligned with golden strong ale, this pale ale is richer for a more luxurious culinary experience without giving up on drinkability. Lively carbonation highlights the spice as a taste of lemongrass chases a medium-length aftertaste.

Certainly not a traditional belg pale ale. This has nice suttle notes of sweetness with less sourness. On the edge of a barleywine without the figgyness. Cant think of a better bpa than this one.

On tap at Urban Heights in Bethesda, poured into an "Antigoon" tulip glass. Hazy, orange-golden color with big frothy head. Aroma is light banana, cloves, and a bit of grass. Taste is bittersweet, pretty heavy malt but nice. Mouthfeel is slightly more bitter than I expected, but overall it's a solid Belgian brew.
