Not typical Russian Imperial Stout. Looks like Quadrupel. Smells and tastes of chocolate, coffee and a lot of dark fruit. Between RIS and Quadrupel. Very nice.

I am a stout fan above all. This beer has a gorgeous head. The aroma is chocolaty and so refined it is more like a wine to appreciate. The color is a dark caramel which is almost black but creates a malty, chocolaty colored head. The pour has a crisp sound of flowing malt.
The bottle came with a netting over it, giving it quite the appearance. The flavor is deep with many secondary notes which are good to the middle and back of the tongue. This is indeed a wonderful beer which I rate at the top of my favorites; Left Hand Milk Stout, Young's Double Chocolate Stout, Bellhaven Stout.

Found on tap at Decicco’s in Brewster, NY this imperial stout is awfully black, solid as night with a big oatmeal colored head and good lacing. The aroma is an edibly beautiful roasted nut-toasted malt combo with a woodsy, near peat deepness that is mellow and inviting. Not real obtuse, but just nice. The flavor comes on with a pleasing roasted malt and licorice grass. It’s so smooth and nearly full bodied but it has a mild carbonation and virtually rolls over the tongue like good water. Roots and leafy hop hints really work together beautifully. While you can sense a little alcohol, it does not suggest 9% at all. The malt character leans to the leafy side to make this pretty unique. It’s pricey but it earns the right. A quality brew worth trying.

Wow that is what a said when I tasted it. Dark appearance with a heavy dark foam head. a slight cocoa coffee which is very nice. The taste is creamy smooth and not too bitter ( mild stout). A slight cocoa after taste. Overall great beer for taste smell and apprence.

Darkest brown but not quite black, healthy head of fluffy tan foam that stays around in big clumps. Smooooth chocolate. Milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and hot cocoa. Subtle coffee and smoke with a mild but balanced earthy hop bitterness. Not overly sweet. Light caramel and vanilla accentuates the chocolate flavor. Really a nice imperial stout and I can't believe the bargain at $5/750ml. The most chocolate forward beer I can remember that doesn't actually contain chocolate. A nice surprise.

A few weeks later the same store had changed the price to $13/750ml - I guess I should have stocked up.

Huge huge head. Nice lacing throughout. Very dark brown black. Nice slightly sweet creamy chocolate taste. Very smooth beer and lots of flavor. Just love the creaminess. I had no problem drinking this as it goes down very smoothly. Would definitely drink this one again.
