Dark brown color with ruby hues, brown head. Aroma is really estery and fruity. I get lots of dark cherries. Taste starts bittersweet, like a roasty quadrupel. Estery with dark cherry liquor notes. Heavy body with medium carbonation. Not bad but it's too Belgian for my taste.

Poured into a stout glass. It is not nearly as dark in color as most Russian Imperial Stouts I've tried before. It's more of a dark cola. It poured an enormous, frothy, ecru-colored head and extensive lacing that persisted throughout the pour. It features a the usual RIS smells: chocolate, coffee, and roasted grain but it has a lot more smell of dark fruit than I anticipated. It's a very pleasing aroma. It also has a very different flavor - something between a RIS and a Belgian Quad. Its tastes include dark chocolate, burnt coffee, vanilla, tobacco, raisin, and dark cherry. It has both sweet and sour notes at the finish but very little hop presence. It's a medium-bodied stout, not as viscous as some of its popular American cousins, and it is highly carbonated. It really hides its 9% ABV. Overall, it is a very good stout, combining elements of two of my favorite styles. I like a dark fruit presence in an Imperial Stout and Troubadour has lots of it.

Very smooth and silky, nice lasting fluffy beige head. Dark brown cloudy body, light chocolaty aroma, taste brings in some roast grain, burnt toast smoky flavors. Some sweet molasses notes on the finish.

Not typical Russian Imperial Stout. Looks like Quadrupel. Smells and tastes of chocolate, coffee and a lot of dark fruit. Between RIS and Quadrupel. Very nice.

This has to be the most unique imperial stout I've ever tried, and probably because it's from Belgium. It honestly doesn't conform to the standards for the style. It's a deep brown rather than black and not entirely opaque. The head is HUGE but settles out fairly quickly. The nose is half imperial stout, half dubbel. The chocolate and burnt malt notes are there, but so is some fruity sweetness and belgian yeast. Actually a really nice combo! The taste has sweet dark fruits mixed with smokey chocolate. It finishes with some oakiness and burnt malt and slight hops. The mouth is fairly light for an imperial stout, though overall medium bodied. It has a dry finish and some warmth from the alcohol. If you're looking for the standard imperial stout, avoid this. But if you're interested in an imperial stout with a Belgian twist, this is a lovely brew!

Almost black colour, with a thin diminishing head that leaves a good lace. Smell of dried fruits, tobacco, some coffee. Medium body, viscous palate. Taste of coffee, dried fruits, tobacco notes, chocolate. Not exactly the best. one, but it's OK.
