Fresh of the plane at lunch time we headed directly to Datz. 30 minute wait by 12:45 and a total lack of parking. Walking in to see a huge cooler with bottle beers eased by annoyance. This is a huge place, very nice inside, a cool demonstration lunch table set up to the right when you walk in. They have 37 taps, all very solid stuff, including three CCB beers, including Soggy Loaf which is brewed only for them and is a must try. The bottle list is extensive probably about 100 very solid beers. The selection and quality are great however, but only criticism is that besides the CCB beers, every other beer was something I could get in Chicago. I know there's not a huge Florida craft scene but I would love to see their beer list be more regional, so many choices out of Georgia alone... The service was decent enough, a lit slow and definitely were not beer people. We got a drink at the bar before we got out table and when we got seated our waitress tried to take the bottle list before I even saw it because we had drinks, and after asking her for the draft list I never got it... The sandwiches here are AWESOME. They are huge and very filling. Great unique combos, like my chicken, apple, and 4 onion compote! Reminds me of Jerry's in Chicago, but with more beer but less food options... This was a thoroughly enjoyable meal and I would gladly come back here to again.

A Tampa must stop for lunch.

Came here for dinner and drinks after visiting Busch Gardens. Very nice atmosphere in the dining room area. Large, well curated draft list. Waitress provided warm and efficient service and was happy to answer questions about the menu. I went for the Creole Shrimp N’ Grits to eat while my wife ordered the Double D Burger. Both dishes were incredibly good.

Tried the following beers on tap:
Stone Go To IPA
Motorworks Hull Melon Dry-Hopped Cruiser Kölsch
Tampa Bay Old Elephant Foot IPA

All were drinking well. My wife, meanwhile, enjoyed her sauvignon blanc. Overall, Datz is an excellent restaurant and I would definitely come here again. Worth a stop when in Tampa.

Food was good, came straight from the airport for a late lunch. They made a good Cold Brew coffee plus I bought doughnuts to go. Many taps of local beer.

Over twenty taps local, national and foreign; at least 10 bottles from KBS ($16) to premium (read expensive) Belgian and Italian beers, as well as cans of corporate meh and ciders. Full liquor bar and wine. Lots of indoor seating, two floors, and outside patio. Dog friendly. 60s rock/mo town on the radio. Great Food! Awesome shrimp & grits, and the $12 Cobb salad with chicken could feed four! Attentive staff. Large variety of beer/styles and reasonably priced. Three small parking lots around the building, including their pastry shop with delicious donuts and baked treats. Will go again when in Tampa.

Very nice loud chill restaurant. Lots of unique things here. The waitstaff is great! Always on top of things, friendly and quick to make recommendations. Food is very interesting lots of stuff you’ll find at the fair. Very delicious, they have 10-15 different beers on tap along with a small bottle selection.

Awesome restaurant/bar with a great selection of craft beers. I don’t make it out to this part of Tampa often, but I always stop in when I am in the area. Great Sweets also!

Stopped in for lunch and a beer. Nice menu full of unique comfort food, solid tap list. Service left something to be desired. Not awful, but just not attentive at all and very slow with most everything. The beer I had was either terrible or old, so not sure if it was their tap lines or the beer. Anyway, definitely worth a stop in, as the food menu is very nice.

Extra parking around the corner was a nice touch being in Florida, and the building looks inviting enough. It is attached to their sister bakery called Dough. Right there on their sign is a quick word about Tampa Bay Beer Week specials (*-*) and I'm walking in the door. We were quickly seated upon entering and the interior has plenty to catch your eye. Upstairs was stuffy to say the least.

Enter our server, younger guy, nice enough. We ask about the list and he states it changes all the time and he has a hard time keeping up with it. No big deal. We just ask him to take his time check out the list with a bartender and grab some waters. I know I want CCB Nitro Cafe con Leche so I order that as well as the monkey bread since it seems to be a fan favorite (yeah I probably have the beetus now). The menu is color printed and newsprint and is quirky and fun like everything else. 16oz pours of almost anything including w00t Stout 2.0 for about $8.

He comes back with waters and asks what everyone wants to drink... again with no list. Maybe hes already asked too many questions of the bar that day and is scared for his life; I try to empathize, restaurant life. The remaining three of my group order and my buddy and I head downstairs to check out for ourselves.

Bartenders were happy to pour samples, but only knew as much as their menu stated. Nothing too crazy for a Beer Week taplist, save for a few Stone tap takeover beers it seemed. No Florida craft heavy hitters which was a little disappointing.

I got some beef brisket tacos which were great, other people got sandwiches which they seemed be at least satisfied with. The sweat box that the upstairs had become as the restaurant started filling for dinner service was a little much for us, so we headed out.

A bit tacky, but they seem to have something for families and locals. Don't expect an insane beer bar/restaurant like I did.

Datz is an interesting place that combines a casual but semi-upscale feel with some outdoor seating, dimly lit cozy bar areas inside, and deli-market. I've never been to anyplace quite like it, although I've been to plenty of places that have one or more aspects of what they've got going on. And they do it quite well, so I'd certainly recommend it as a stop. It's not far off of Dale Mabry to the south, and if you follow that north there are plenty of other stops to buy beer as well (Trader Joe's @ Swann St., an ABC to the east on Kennedy, Total Wine & More and Whole Foods @ I-275, and even more if you just keep going north). The food is quite good, but at the very least stop in and have a beer and take a look.

We hit this place up very briefly in between the tremendous Cigar City tasting room, and the horrendous Tampa Bay Brewing brewpub. Had I known how bad the later venue would be, I would have parked myself at Datz for the rest of the night. But alas...

I didn't get a full feel for the place, but I could tell it was a good quality establishment with a strong tie to the beer scene. I got a family-oriented vibe, but not in a bad way...the place was dimly lit, and there was probably as much bar space as there was table space, not to mention multiple bars; take your pick. It's like a restaurant/deli/bakery with the lights turned down. Everything was tidy and classy, but there was still a friendly and down to earth feel about it.

We came to Datz hoping to get Soggy Loaf, the beer brewed exclusively for the place by CC, but unfortunately it was not on tap at the time of our visit. However, with a pretty massive draught selection, and plenty of bottles to look through, you really can't complain. I had just enough time to get myself a Lazy Magnolia brew (had to try it, since I'll never see it in PA), and the bartender was nice enough to give the wife and I a couple samplers. The service was great, and the bartender acknowledged us before we even took our seats. Unfortunately, since we were only stopping in briefly, I didn't sample the food, but I wish now that I had, because it all seemed delicious.

I highly doubt I'll ever visit Florida again, but in the off chance I do, I'd love to spend some more time at Datz. Cheers!

Visited on 7/12/11 before we stopped through Cigar City.

The place is easy to find, though parking was on a side street a short walk away if I remember correctly.

A very large space with tons of seating downstairs, as well as a working deli counter on the side and bar in back, bottles for sale in front. Near the back bar were shelves of sixers as well. We were seated upstairs where shelves of liquor line the walls, presumably for sale. News paraphernalia lines the rest of the walls.

Nice wooden furnishings and yet modern ambiance. Very large and tempting menu, though many items were a little on the pricey side. There was a second bar upstairs as well.

Tap list was a respectable size - approx. 20 taps plus a cask beer. They have a special brew called "Soggy Loaf" (Pumpernickel rye porter) which is brewed solely for Datz by Cigar City. Get it, it is a phenomenal brew. The other taps are mostly local stuff to FL or the south.

Huge portions on the food, and excellent quality. We ordered a cheese plate which wound up being utterly massive. They had some pretty fun cheeses to choose from as well, a number of which were beer themed/infused.

Overall Datz is clean, warm, spacious, and suited for many tastes - be it food for there or to go, beer and liquor to consume there or to go. I will definitely stop back if i am ever again in the Tampa area.
