Bottle: Poured a clear amber/copper color ale with a nice foamy head. Aroma of citrusy and piney hops with nice floral undertones. Taste is a nice mix of citrusy and piney hops notes with limited bitterness and some nice floral undertones with limited residual sugar notes. Body is full with good carbonation. Another super enjoyable hoppy ale from this brewer.

A - Wow is that a dark dank brew! Almost dark brown in color I don't think I ever seen such an opaque colored head in a red ale before which is a 1/2 inch that pulls back to great lacing.
S - Mostly sweet but it does have a distinct pine needles smell others described. Smell is excellent.
T - Bitter yet balanced with a touch of caramel sweetness the bitterness does linger a bit with every sip.
M - Does show its boozy side a bit but is easy to put away slick medium bodied brew.

Overall I am not sure why I don't buy more Fatheads brews this one was fantastic.

Received as an extra, poured into my Duvel tulip.

A - Poured a nice crystal clear reddish brown with a nice fat one finger off white head that fades slowly to leave sticky lacing and a nice thin creamy blanket.

S - Aromas of light caramels, lightly sweet malts, real faint pine needles, very light citrus, primarily oranges and zest. No alcohol, but, a bit sweet.

T - Taste is similar to the nose. Fair amount of malty caramel sweetness, booze/alcohol is fairly prominent here. Strong lingering bitterness on the finish. Fair amount of candied orange peel. Sticky, loads of earthy piney hops.

M - Mouthfeel is pleasantly bitter, still fairly boozy and a bit sticky though.

O - Overall this was a solid imperial red ale. Big, boozy, bitter.

Thanks to rudzud for sharing. Bottled 4/01/16, so very fresh.

Pours syrupy looking with a smaller but decent 1/4 finger fizzy head that fades semi slowly, mild lacing, dark but clear mahogany color.

Nose some reddish sweet candy malts, toasty malts with a little sweet toffee notes, some nice hops, a bit floral but some citrus and orange peel, a touch of candied spicy hop and orange zest.

Taste brings sweet malts out front, sweet and a little syrupy with some caramel, toasted reddish malts, a little toffee, faint booze warmth, maybe a touch of fruity esters but hard to tell as the big hops kick in quickly, spicy with a pretty big bitter kick after a few seconds, more candied orange peel, some generic citrus and fruit, a little floral, etc. Finish is a bit sticky, a touch more warming booze, pretty big spicy earthy hop punch.

Mouth is med to fuller bod, little syrupy, decent carb, bit of warming booze.

Overall not bad, decent hop and malt profile, feel and booze about what I expected them to be at, same with general taste profile, nothing special, but a good big hoppy red IPA style when you're craving that.

Pours a nice amber hue - clear and crisp. One finger off-white head slowly dissipates leaving some nice sticky lacing along the glass and a film along the top of the beer.

Smell is grapefruit and pine with some catty notes. Bit of a malty undertone comes through as well. Nice balanced aroma.

Taste has notes of ruby red grapefruit with some nice strong pine notes giving way to catty notes and a mildly bitter finish. Clear malt backbone in this one, but the malt never really overpowers any of the hop flavors, its just there in the background providing balance. Flavor hides the alcohol very well in spite of the ABV.

Feel is smooth and on the lighter side with medium carbonation. Keeps it pretty drinkable.

Overall, a really fine amber ale from Fat Head's. Really enjoyed this one.

Huge grapefruit, pine, grass, and light onion and catty notes in aroma.

Flavor doesn't disappoint, with sharp grapefruit that carries throughout. Pine emerges in the moderately bitter finish. The amber malt provides a light sweetness, to contrast, but the hop notes override the amber malt fruitiness I typically find offputting.

I never even heard of this beer and found it this week. After buying a 4 pack to try it, I immediately called the distributor to reserve a case. Maybe my new favorite.

Pours clear and ruby reddish orange color with a thick white head with lacing that sticks around! The smells slightly piney with big citrus notes, grapefruity and very pleasant. The taste is very well balance between he smooth malt which is slightly sweet and offsets the big hops flavor. for being 90 IBU's I expected to have my taste buds ripped out but instead the flavor is so balanced that the IBU's don't seem to be as big. Finish is also smooth and not sharp and does not have bitter finish. Mouthfeel is smooth and resinous but not unpleasant. This could be a daily drinker except for he 9+ ABV. I like this a lot!

Pours a clear ruby Amber color. Aroma is pine and citrus with a malty backbone. Flavor has nice pines notes with a balanced malty finish. This is incredibly drinkable with a great feel. Overall this is one of the best red ales I've ever had.

Pours a deep amber with moderate fluffy head. Average retention. Aroma has deep caramel malt with citra hop notes. The malt / hop ratio on this pretty balanced, rich golden & caramel malt with a sharp pine finish, undertones of citra. Good harmony in flavors, certainly bitter at the end but not overwhelmingly so. Good body and feel, slick and resinous.
