Deep golden with a lean malt presence that’s bright and refreshing, balanced by tropical hop flavors and aromas that are complimented by fresh citrus fruits.

A - Very surprising carbonation two inches thick from a medium pour. Color is very IPA tinted a bright amber brown haze.
S - Bright floral and citrus hops nothing too crazy but the bottle may be old since the beer is hazy and their is sediment in my bottle bottom.
T - Wow still very sharp and bitter almost acidic hops which quickly mend to a faded breaded body of crystal malts. Lingering bitterness from a pale stands out enough to note.
M - Somewhat crisp very heavy for a pale ale treading the boundaries on an IPA but still not as drinkable as world class offerings.
Overall a fairly bitter and tasty pale ale if your into that sort of thing. Me I crave more balance sometimes.

When hops aren't sharp enough on their own, let's exacerbate their character with blatant citrus fruit additions. At least that's what Fat Head's brewers think when they add a little swagger to the hop-forward pale ale. Damn straight they're feeling it!
Overzealous and overstating its arrival, the boisterous ale billows with a tall and heady froth that's loosely knit and strongly meringue-like. As the foam reluctantly settles, the tantilizing scent of citrus juice, citrus peel and pith all emerge and lay a sharp scent on the nose. Also driven by citrus, the initial taste is softly candied with orange, grapefruit and lemon with a pillowy angel food cake sweetness.
But all that is short-lived. Sweetness fades quickly and takes that soft breadiness with it. What rises in its absence is all those citrus flavors that quickly overwhelm the palate with sharp, acidic, and acute oranges, grapefruit, lemon and lime. Its tangy acidity prickles at the tongue with a peppery bite that seems almost smoky at times. Sharply bitter, the final taste is nearly as astringent as it is bitter with those piths, ribs and peels of citrus.
Medium-light in body, however the ale registers lighter because of that incredible lift of carbonation that pulls the flavors from the tongue. Its refreshment is enhanced because of this, but its flavors are slow to resonate. Alas, balance comes and the finishing flavors are rewarded with citrus and pine with a long linger of citrus leaf.

I'm really enjoying the fresh, fruity aromas coming from my glass. Blood orange really shines in particular. Beneath that lie tropical hops and a nice white bread character. The flavor profile is really a tale of two beers: the first half is very fruity, while the second one reveals its...um, 'beerness'. Still, there is a constant blood orange characteristic throughout. After the veritable fruit salad to start things off, this one quickly transitions into a finish of pine needles and cracker. Feel is nice and crisp, but could be cleaned up a tad post-swallow. Regardless, I'm really enjoying this.
