-Oktoberfest lager in std. pint. Bot. 08.09.17 consumed 11.28.17.

A: Coppery-penny pour has a good fill of effervesce. A firm and frothy toothpaste white head is one inch and remains in good standing. Sticky ring lacing. Traditional lager appearance. Nice.

S: Fresh green noble hops, wet flowers, backed by some sugary toasted malt. A bit of small dried lemon fruit with fresh barley and cracker malt. Faint hints of apple peel yeastiness. Overall, clean and crisp, toasty malt with a good strength.

T: Flavor of deep toasted bread and barley and sweet malts provides an ample and sturdy backbone. Fresh noble hops are soft and delightful with some apple peel and fruity nuances from the yeast. Toasted caramel and toasted cracker malt. Nice fresh hops.

M: Big bite of carbonation adds crispness and an edge with a medium slick malt texture. Toasty bread warmth.

O: Really nice deep toasted malting, sturdy american style backbone with traditional German noble hops. A really nice appearance, crisp mouthful, brings respect and boldness to the style and much lager love for those who may prefer ales. Cheers to this, pitcher worthy, fireside on a brisk October evening with good friends.

Bottled on 7/20/17. 12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours copper with a subtle haze but still has some clarity to it along with some bubbles racing upwards; chunky off-white head that slowly falls leaving great thick retention and sticky frothy lacing. The aromas are subtle with some fresh toast. Malts are there. Mild hints of caramel and toffee. Some peanuts in the mix. The flavors are pretty clean, crisp and refreshing. Malts do their thing. More toasted bread. More subtle hints of caramel and toffee. Mild spiciness in the finish. Slightly earthy. Mild to moderate bitterness. Finishes clean. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is very nice. It's light with sharp active carbonation. It's fluffy, smooth and easy to drink.

This is a solid Oktoberfest. It's a clean example of the style. The craftsmanship is on point. Enjoyable stuff.

This is not my favorite style, but it is one of my favorite local brewers (my official retirement party was at Fat Heads on Lorain). Will I cut them some slack? No need to. This is a great example of the style.

It's not as red as some, but it has excellent head. The aroma is fresh and clean. The taste is not overly malty and does not seem to do anything off kilter. This is a well balanced brew that ends up being more refreshing than this style usually is. I could see myself drinking a few of these except I only bought the one bottle at Saveon on Friday.

From the growler via Jungle Jim's Eastgate in a snifter. This fine fest pours a
nice glowing deep amber color with a nice head of white foam that settles to
a thick ring, thin subtle pool, and showcases nice sudsy lacing. Nose of sweet
malts, light earthy tones, and subtle herbal hops. Flavors hit the umpa! note with
deep sweet malt notes touched with light breaded malt flavors with a touch of
roast and herbal hops on the back. Nicely balanced! Excellent mouth feel; medium
body, medium light carbonation to keep things lively and sessionable, and a sweet
malt finish with a touch of hops.

Excellent!

Cheers

Bottled 7/20/17

It is a deep reddish copper color. The large, frothy white foam didn't have very good retention. Even with a hard pour.

It smells very malty, and fairly sweet. Kind of like a nut bread with a touch of earthy, and sort of metallic aroma.

It is significantly sweet and doughy. Not a bunch of flavor early, but towards the end, and warmer, there is more of a toasted note and the spicy hops become noticeable with a little touch of herbal/floral. Finishes clean, crisp, and a little dry. The body is a little on the too heavy side. While the fluffy feel is nice, it makes it seem like a fuller, stronger beer.

This has some pretty good qualities and some off ones. I think it is a good beer, but not one of my favorite Marzens. Too sweet and a little too heavy. Reminds me quite a bit of Great Lakes version.

12 oz pour our of a bottle into a speigelau IPA glass. Bottles on 7/20

A: Huge chunky fat white head that tumbles like a Belgian head. Body has great clarity and it a bright amber orange.

S: lots of bready fought malts hit your nose exactly as the floral spicy hops do giving the beer an almost bitter smell.

T: fairly sweet lots of nice grainy doughy sweet malts followed by some light spicy hops.

M: good carbonation lightercto medoum bodied.

O: This beer isn't as sweet on tap for some reason a tad more balanced. It's not a bad beer it's just a tad sweet and the hops do not come through in the taste as much as the nose.

Having this on-tap served to me in a pint glass, this beer draws a clear, dark amber/copper color with a white head that's about half an inch thick when first served that settles to a thick ring lining the inside of the glass. Not much lacing. Aromas of toasted, biscuity, caramel malt sweetness along with hints of brown sugar and molasses. Has an earthy hop aroma. The taste is pretty much the same, with somewhat toasted, biscuity, caramel malt sweetness with hints of molasses and brown sugar. Some earthy, slightly floral hops that add a bit of bitterness that cut the dominant sweet flavors just slightly. Has a crisp, yet smooth, medium bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Has a clean finish with a slightly dry aftertaste. A solid beer and fairly good representation of the the style, just about too sweet I feel.
