This poured out as a reddish brown color with a thin cream colored head. The retention was minimal as well as the lacing. The smell of the beer gave off some decent spicy notes and some sweet malts. The taste of the beer was slightly bready with a decent mix of spices, sweet grains and candi sugar. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with a moderate carbonation level. Overall it's not a bad beer, not really too exciting though either.

Pours a syrupy cola brown with a thin head, aroma is mostly dark berry & phenol alcohol. Flavor is mostly the same, with piques of black licorice & fig, with a big boozey phenol wave on the end. Finishes pretty smooth despite that, with the anise & fig lingering the longest. Medium bodied, very little carbonation, faint bread. Decent beer but nothing exceptional, worth trying.

Pours a deep amber color with an off white head. In the aroma, a small dark fruit and spices. In the taste, lots of spices, dark fruits, and a note of alcohol. A spice bite and a medium bodied mouthfeel, with a semi dry spice and dark fruit in the aftertaste. Quite nice, and it almost feels like a quad.

Dark, not bitter but it's high abv gives it some bite. However, holiday spices are present making this a strong but tasty beer.

Poured from a growler into a tulip
A: Translucent dark brown with a hint of red; the thin head disappears in a flash
S: Cherry, baking spice, plum/fig
T: Matches the nose; full-bodied, a bit hot
M: Full-bodied, a bit sweet/hot
O: Overall a decent interpretation of the style though I think FH does a better job with their hoppy beers

Bottled on 11/9/15. 12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours auburn with some ruby hues; tan head that fades leaving nice retention and okay lacing. The aromas are full of dark fruits. Raisin, plum and fig. Some black cherry notes. Subtle yeast notes along with some sweet malts. The flavors seem to follow the nose. More dark fruits. Alcohol notes are there, but it's not boozy. Some sugar. It's sweet, but not cloying. Lots of malts. Finishes warm. Mouthfeel is full-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's slightly slick and syrupy. Makes for a nice sipper.

Nice brew. It might not matchup with its counterparts from overseas, but it's still an enjoyable experience. It hits the spot during the cold weather.

In my opinion this is just not a good example of the style. Doesn't much resemble a Belgian . . . An American take at that. Not even in the nose. Color is nice though, has a pretty ruby hue to it which is this beers highlight. Flavors of cherries and winter spices. Very boozy. Overall an average take on the style with a horrible name.
