If you look closely, you can imagine the magic of the dusk light on the mountains reflected in the amazing color of this brew. Unfiltered with a foggy appearance and light aromas of wheat, bubblegum, clove and spice. Finishes silky smooth. Take a sip and set your mind aglow.

I had this on draft 12/29/23 @ the Beer Temple.
Opaque dark brown appearance.
A nice tan head; strong, frothy lacing remained.
Banana bread, candle wax & mild clove notes in the nose.
Creamy medium mouthfeel.
Banana bread, soft wheat & mild clove flavors; faint booze heat emerged as this warmed.
Pleasant & quite tasty; I'd have another!

(16 oz can, canned on? 03/09/22; purchased cold single at Beer Peddlers today... poured into my Tonewood lager/weizen glass)
L: mildly cloudy, reddish-garnet colored liquid; tall, tan foam stand, sadly crackily/crumbly; actually some swirled sediment with the final top-up pour
S: raisin, plum, brown bread crust; delayed then prominent banana overtone, faint chocolaty undertone... with the remainder of the dregs poured in, a bit of a nutty yeast and dried-flower herbality accents the fruity aromas... overall potency high, expression and spectrum moderate-to-high; delicate vinous alcohol
T: ohh yeah: big pop of the fruity, spicy elements, with an intense expression and purple grape (vinous), lightly bitey surge in the finish... midway to right in the immediate aftertaste, a swell of big doughy maltiness... fruit nectar, bits of pear and prune... luckily the malt is thick enough to counterbalance the increasing punch of booze, as it goes
F: round, rolly, and bouncy, with a softly silky viscosity in the finish, cut and lifted by the smooth heat of the alcohol... stunning (literally), soothing, sultry, but just maybe lacking some fluff and simmer (poured at cellar temp, lost its air)
O: I've been in Beer Peddlers quite a number of times in recent months and never spotted this; I wonder how it had been stored, and if that affected the poor head retention and, of course, freshness of flavors... this was rather delicious; would love to try it again (more fresherest) (2142)

A - Pours a nice clear, caramel chestnut color with vibrant carbonation and a thick, off-white dense layer of foam resting on top.
S - Toasted caramel malt, bread crust, and light spice.
T - Toasted caramel, bread crust, clove and spice, a small amount of dark fruit and some light citrus in the back ground. Finishes on the sweeter side with lingering clove and spice.
M - Big body that's silky soft and finishing semi-dry on the palate. There's a small amount of alcohol presence but it doesn't detract from the beer.
O - This is a really nice interpretation of the style. Recommended.

Awesome bewr. Love the peppercorn like zest I get from it, almost certainly the yeast they used.

Canned 12/17/21, drank 1/14/22 (fresh, baby!). 1 pint can poured into teku glass.
L: Wow, very interesting look. Pours a murky cold-brew coffee brown, with a really nice creamy head that takes a long time to dissipate, then stays as a lacing throughout the session.
S: A bit of booze up front but then figs, malt, and just a really nice sweet German-beer aroma.
T: What a beer. It's like what I like about German beers distilled and concentrated into a single beer. Great example of the style, has a very German taste to it, you can tell it is a stronger beer but I wouldn't guess that it's 8% right away. For flavors I get dried fig, banana bread, candied fruit, a bit of booze, definitely can taste the weizen (wheat). Tastes like a concentrated version of a hefeweizen, but with fig notes, super delicious. i.e. , tastes like a weizenbock should.
F: Fine carbonation, thicker mouthfeel
O: Overall I am quite impressed, it's not often that I taste an American craft beer that nearly flawlessly passes for a classic German style. Usually there's some differences, but in a blind test I think I wouldn't guess that this was American. Just a delicious damn beer. Buy it!

I reviewed this quite a long time ago, but it's time to revisit, being less of a noob, and also having it side by side other weizenbocks.
Appearance is nearly opaque burnt chestnut with a tall khaki to tan head that very slowly settles to a thickly lumpy, wavy blanket leaving sprawling but sporadic coral lacing everywhere.
This is bolder, toastier, and almost quad-like relative to the Weihenstephaner Vitus I'm having next to it. Having just had Westvelteren XII, I'm finding myself comparing this to that instead, or maybe the dubbel, VIII. While it has similar qualities to Vitus, the wheat is darker, the spice is more assertive, even clove-like, while the body still has a nice silky feel with a medium heft, but more of a bitter finish that's a touch walnutty with a hint of crabapple skin.
It does, at times, with much less critical observation, translate as well done banana bread overall.

Wow. I'm not sure what I was expecting to come out of the can. Maybe a good imitation? But what came out was the opposite, the real deal. I haven't been to their restaurant in a while (I used to go frequently) and I forgot how well they did difficult styles like this.
It pours nasty brown with plenty of foamy head. It looks like a deep, swurmy caramel affair. The aroma is a very German, yeasty, malty smell. More of the real deal. The taste is no slouch. It bombs your taste with yeasty malts that don't quit. It has the feel of a real, big, dark, German wheat.
Recommended. A real German wheat bock that kicks butt.
