On tap @ Fat Heads Cleveland.

Listed on the menu as "A pale lager in the style most common to the Czech Republic. A medium body and crisp, clean, dry finish. Pairs nicely with most foods".

5.0%, 38 IBU, served in a 1/2 liter open mouthed pint glass.

Fat Heads Bohemian Blonde is bright gold with some nice lace and awesome head. I can see great active carbonation through it's transparent gold window to Czech lager awesomeness. Good looking beer!

Oh, no. Don't tell me this going to be another one of this 'looks good but doesn't deliver' beers.  A bummer for sure, there really isn't the spicy, earthy hop character I demand from a Czech pilsner. Just a mild bit of clean malt and mild Saaz. Bring the spice, guys!

Well, it could still taste good, right?  It doesn't taste bad, but there just isn't a ton of flavor; I'm not digging this nearly as much as other Fatheads lighter offerings, especially the fantastic Starlight Lager.  I really love the better Czech pilsners as they are so clean and well defined, but this, while being clean and non-offensive, is just boring.  Mild Saaz hop spice and a mild toasty, biscuit, grainy malt. But very, very mild.

Bohemian Blonde has a finish that is very dry, without a ton of carb but a nice, light mouthfeel.  This is an OK beer but not my favorite by any means.  I consider the baseline, threshold beer for a top tier Czech Pils to be the Gordon Biersch Czech Lager and that beer runs circles around this. Weird, sometimes I think Fat Heads lighter offerings seem tamed down and I really don't think they need to be.
