Pours a clear ruby / garnet color. Lots of tiny bubbles are racing up to a thick, khaki colored head. The head slowly falls to a dusting that leaves some spots of lacing.

Its aroma is sweet and phenolic. I smell plum, figs, raisins, trail mix, spice, and candy. It kind of reminds me of a Chinese plum BBQ sauce.

I taste sweet plum, red apple, sweet rolls, pepper, Dr. Pepper, and a hint of brandy. Tastefully phenolic. The flavors are not as complex as the aromas, but both are very well balanced.

Medium bodied with nice carbonation. It is a little bitter for style. It has a dry finish that is pleasant.

Highly drinkable, but beware it does pack a punch. I'm feeling it after only a 10 oz pour.

F.T. Id love to have this beer with a little aging to it. I'm thinking with little time for the flavors to marry this brew would rival any Belgian offering.

Served in a chalice.

Aroma: Pepper phenols up front. A nice pleasant spiciness with bready undertones. No hop aroma.

Appearance: Dark amber pour with golden edges. A low white head dissipates quickly.

Flavor: Spicy pepper notes up front, clove, and low fig notes all flood the palate. Soft dark bread malt character lays the foundation. Balance is even with a slight nod to the bitterness due to the phenol character. Earthy hop bitterness. Finish is clean and bone dry.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied. Prickly high carbonation. No creaminess or astringency.

Overall impression: A velvet hammer. Dangerously drinkable with tons of Belgian character. Worthy of recognition.

A- Pours a clear dark reddish brown color with a solid tannish colored head. Head has pretty good retention and leaves quite a bit of spotty lacing.

S- Picking up quite a bit of darker fruits here. A good amount of spice from the yeast. Pretty sweet smelling too.

T- Taste is pretty sweet but also very good. Tons of dark fruits, raisins, plums and figs. Quite a bit of candie sugars. A hint of alcohol here too.

M- Fuller side of medium and carbonation was nice.

O- Very solid brew. I can also imagine this one would sneak up on you if you're not careful.
