"Space, the final frontier..." at least the "space" in the brew tank that we filled with this silky Imperial Stout. We brewed this with cold extracted dark roast coffee, to boldly go where no man has gone before (not really, but it sounds cool). Fresh brewed coffee, rich roasted malt and semi-sweet chocolate dominate this brew. Creamy in almost a cappuccino-like way with a hint of bitterness. Mmmm, bean me up one of these, Scotty.

It may all be starting to gel at this point. I just finished up with a couple of 3 Floyds bottles (gasp!) as part of my concerted effort to perhaps eradicate the bottle portion of my backlog. I did this with an eye to my next segue into yet another brewery horizontal. This will be the third of three Fat Head's bottles.
From the Bottle: "Fat Head's Bean Me Up Imperial Coffee Stout"; "30 IBU"; "We crafted this out-of-this world brew with cold extracted dark roast coffee to boldly go where no man has gone before. Rich roasted malt and semi-sweet chocolate dominate, balanced by a hint of bitterness and a creamy, almost a cappuccino-like mouthfeel."; "Chill out man, have a beer! [undersigned] Matt * Chris * Glenn"; "Bean me up one of these, Scotty."
Having had my own morning cuppa joe, I Pop!ped the cap & started a slow, gentle C-Line pour into the awaiting Fat Head's glass. I was amused when it evinced a pseudo-cascade, eventually forming two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, deep-tan/light-brown head with decent retention, leaving a load of lacing in its wake. Color was Dark Brown to Very Dark Brown (SRM = > 27, < 34) with garnet highlights visible throughout. Nose was rich with deep-roasted coffee plus an additional bittersweet chocolatiness. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, a little light for an AIS. The taste was definitely coffee-driven, but tempered with a chocolatiness that made it even more palatable. I take my coffee like my women - hot & black, so even if it had been merely a coffee bitterness throughout, I would have been fine with it, but the chocolatiness just made a good thing better. Finish was dry with a lingering coffee bitterness. For the non-coffee drinker or the one(s) that like(s) it with plenty of cream & sugar, this is NOT going to be your cuppa joe. For the rest of us, those who drink coffee & NOT a hot milkshake, this is going to be right up your alley! Now, I'm curious to try their non-Imperial version. YMMV.

Big thanks @jzeilinger for knowing I would dig this one. Poured into a 16 Great Divide thin Snulip, bottled on 1/14/19. Pours a very attractive near pitch black with a 3 finger dark tan head, with excellent retention and leaving a few thick waves of lace, poured at around 48 degrees perfect coffee stout temp. 4.5
Smell is vanilla bean, biscuit, cocoa nibs, and some dark roasty coffee. 4.25
Taste is a little more coffee forward, vanilla, cocoa, biscuity grain, and hints of hazelnut. 4.25
Mouthfeel is bigger than average, plenty of life for the style, a touch dry as you would expect, and at 8.4% the alcohol is hidden and very easy to drink. 4.5
Overall another stellar beer from Fat Heads, I am sure when fresh the coffee is bigger and bolder but still drinking great with over 5 months on it. Cheers all. 4.25

I’m not a coffee lover (or even a coffee liker), but this beer could make me one. There are waves of rich coffee and dark chocolate aromas lurking in the air after an aggressive pour of this dark mahogany brown beer with a foamy, voluminous tan head.
The taste is a beer espresso machine, with chocolate and coffee flavors dancing to the beer jukebox tunes this beer serves up, and the mouthfeel is worthy of a lighter imperial stout.
Man, I am totally digging this.

Shared with JLindros.
A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice dark brown almost black with a fat two finger mocha head that fades to leave sticky lacing and a creamy blanket.
S - Aromas of light chocolate bars and syrup, fainter coffee beans, good soft vanilla.
T - Taste is similar to the nose with loads of almost buttery sweetness. Faint chocolate and mocha cream. Good light roast, almost like a weak coffee candy.
M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, creamy, alcohol hidden nicely.
O - Overall this was a really disappointing stout. The coffee was really weak and lackluster with the base being quite watery. Shockingly mediocre!

Pours a giant foamy tan bubbly head.with great retention and lacing, very dark basically black color
Nose dark roasty marshmallowy cocoa chocolate malt, nougat caramel and a little dark fruit, light biscuit toffee, pretty light in general, little roasty coffee candy
Taste bitter roast out front, dry chalky roasted coffee grinds and bitter everything, like coffee roasted grains little charred thing, turns slightly acrid, coffee grounds water, mild bitter dry finish,
Mouth is medium to fuller bod, lighter carb, little alcohol, but watery
Overall this was pretty bad, really shows fat heads, very bipolar, awesome or terrible

Missed out on this in bottles so I was happy to find it on tap. Dark Brown pour with a modest tan head. Smell is cold-brew coffee with hints of chocolate. As someone else mentioned, perhaps I got this a bit too late because the coffee flavor is fairly faded. More hints of coffee than anything in your face. Also getting some cocoa and chocolate notes. Medium body finish.

Bottled 1/14/19.
A - Pitch black pour with a light caramel colored creamy lacing ring.
S - Dark chocolate, coffee, light char/charcoal and a hint of smoke.
T - Coffee, dark chocolate, cream, light charcoal, and ends with a mild lingering chocolate bitterness.
M - Big medium body with a big dry finish on the tongue.
O - The coffee has faded quite a bit but the chocolate presence is strong and still enjoyable. A good alternative to Founder's Breakfast Stout.

Brownish body with a nice head, creamy. Warm aroma of fresh ground coffee beans; faint whiff of alcohol. Excellent flavors of coffee and cocoa; mocha; excellent bitterness; grain husk char; semi-sweet. Medium-heavy body; soft and pillowy; some acrid dryness.
An excellent coffee stout delivering a nearly espresso-like caffeine presence. Despite a slight scent of alcohol, it hides its booziness well. Tasty and bracing...
