L- clear pale yellow
S- big strong hop profile
T- matches the smell, nice blend of alpha hops
F- crisp bitterness, clean hop taste, no malty after taste.
O- another great Fat Head's IPA, even though it's a session ale.

Fat Heads Sunshine Daydream

Look 9/10
Smell 19/20
Taste 36/40
Feel 9/10
Drinkability 18/20

Overall 91/100

Real nice flavor profile for a season... Rather big hop profile, which I didn't expect. Nice creamy feel. Sure it's a session, which I don't personally love. That's said, It has a rather big flavor profile. Smooth and hoppy

Final Verdict: A real nice session IPA worth seeking out. Fat Heads had been brewing beer out there mind lately! Why pass if you have the chance?

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Cuvee glass.
Tons of carbonation in this, really had to wait this one out so I could get all of it in the glass! Body is a crystal clear light golden; the head is a range of tiny tight little bubbles to larger bubbles that leaves little islands of lacing in the glass.
Smells of citrus: lemon, grapefruit and a little bit of tropical fruits too; pineapple and faintly mango.
Tastes pretty much like it smells! Plenty of that lemon and citrus, but is well rounded out with a sweetness of those malts on the end.
Although there was a ton of carbonation showing up on the pour there isn't a lot when you drink it; there's a lot of that hoppiness on the tongue and a nice dry finish.
Overall this is a very well done Session Ale! I don't typically go for this style, because it always seems to be all promise and no reward, however this is a well crafted session beer! From the aroma to the taste and the finish! Plus all under %5 abv. Can't go wrong with this one, pick it up if you find it!

16oz draft at the Pittsburgh location poured into a pint glass:

Look: Poured a golden orange color with about an inch of head. Lacing is present throughout consumption of this beverage.

Smell: Huges notes of citrus and grapefruit and some hints of pine. Smells amazing!

Taste: Tons of citrus and grapefruit notes up front. Also some tropical fruits. Some small hints of pine in here as well along with some malt backbone.

Feel: Medium bodied. Very crisp and refreshing on this hot day.

Overall: This might be the best session IPA I have had to date. This beer runs circles around Slow Ride, Steady Rollin, etc. Fat Heads never disappoints with their hoppy offerings and this one does not either. I would purchase this one again and I may head out and get a 12 pack soon! Very well done!

Sunshine Daydream Session IPA
Fat Heads Brewery & Saloon
Style: American IPA
ABV: 5.00 %

LOOK: Bright gold with a small white foam cap. Active carbonation rising to the top and fine clarity. A bit of lace is left behind, this looks like an IPA.

SMELL: Pineapple juice, citrus oil, resin, herb and malt sweetness all chime in for what makes for a solid aroma. Enticing tropical fruityness.

TASTE: Follows the nose, with pineapple, pine, sap, mango, herbal, and an astringent bitterness. Sharply bitter with a crisp hop bite. Pale malts, lots of hop, grain, and an even finish with hop oil flavor lingering on the palate.

FEEL: Light to medium bodied, well carbonated, almost dry in the finish.

OVERALL: Yet another solid rendition of an IPA from Fatheads. They make a similar IPA with stronger ABV in the Headhunter, which is world class. This is very very good.

Pours a clear crisp gold with a nice white creamy head that slowly dissipates leaving a nice lacing on the top. Lots of carbonation bubbles can be seen in the beer.

Smell is amazing. Just a burst of floral and citrus scents. The taste is full of citrus zest with some floral notes. I got a little underlying peach flavor finishing with a piney hop taste. the hop flavor is really balanced and the bitterness is really mellowed. Very nice flavor.

Feel has some good carbonation with light mouthfeel. Very drinkable with a low ABV.

Overall this was my first FatHead offering, and it did not disappoint. Really tasty session IPA. I'd certainly get some more of this if I ever come across it.

Coppery-colored with bubble cascades all over. Thin head in height. Gorgeous lacing. 4.0

Pine and citrus hops. Grapefruit, lemon, and some floral notes. Very pleasing nose. Husky pale malt on low volume. 4.0

Dry, crisp hoppy flavor. Substantially bitter. Lime and grapefruit with some backend orange. Juniper, melon rind, cucumber, and sassafras. Hushed pale malt backbone with a dinner roll twist. Fascinating IPA. 4.5

Very smooth, but not quite medium in body. Carbonation is medium and very complementary. 4.0

Incredible brew. Fathead's got their shit together in the hoppy beer department. So glad I snagged this pint. 4.5

Well, score another point for Fat Head's. Here goes:

A: Beautiful. Pours a clear yellow-orange. The effervescence is superb as well, and the head and lacing are marvelous. Great.

S: Lots of grass, citrus, herbs, and mango (tropical fruit). The mango lingers in the background after the grass and lemon give way.

T: Follows the nose. Maybe a little light, but the hops still shine forth. Can taste plenty of herbs; the mango is still prominent as well. On a side note, I do detect some grainy malt in the aftertaste.

F: Little watery, but the effervescence is still superb.

O: Great session ale.

I don't know how they do it but they got a good intense bitterness with a smooth malt profile with a nice body and a session able drink able ness.

Best session IPA I ever had? I guess that is for debate but I seem to enjoy it and even though it was on closeout (summer beer not sold before winter) it still holds up as a great IPA with the bitter taste.

Get it if you cant chug their Head Hunter IPA!

Appearance: Copper golden color with a semi frothy one finger off white head

Smell: Bright citrus, pine, tropical, grassy, honey biscuit malt

Taste: Zesty citrus (lemon, grapefruit, orange), pine, grassy, bitter. Slight pale malt, but could use more

Mouthfeel: Heavy light body; Smooth with a moderately bitter finish

Overall: Someone please tell me the difference between a pale ale and a session ipa. Anyways, I prefer this over Founders All Day and Stone's Go To. Its light and has plenty of citrus hops but not overly so and bitter like Go To or too malty like All Day. They found a nice balance with this one just like Head Hunter. It also helps that I usually get Fat Head's beers within a week or two of bottling. Between this, Head Hunter, and JUJU, they're amongst the leading breweries in the world when it comes to IPAs! However, I think $12 a six pack is a little steep for a session ipa, and may as well grab Head Hunter over this every time.

Fat Heads Sunshine Daydream

Sigh . . . Hippies. ( honestly I've always kinda admired them )

Poured into pint glass

A: A very nice opaque orange. Nice because this is the first "session ipa" I've had that actually has some color.

S: Citrus, floral notes, fresh cut grass and if I'm not mistaken galaxy hops ?

T: Hold on . . . I have the hic-ups . . . Ok, taste is the same. Really very flavorful for a sessionable ipa. Flavors walk step in step with with what's on my nose. Sunshine Daydream is as close to a "regular" ipa as I've enjoyed.

M: Easy drinking . . . watch out for this one. Smooth and very well carbonated.

O: I'm one of those guys that really likes this style. I can appreciate the niche these are trying to fill for those who . . . (Gasp) . . . Like flavor and low abv% . . . So far the best sessionable ipa I've been privileged enough to enjoy. Well done Fatheads. But when golfing . . . I'm still taking All Day ipa with me. CAN IT !!!

Pours out gold with a nice half inch head which is reduced to a thin to covering. Hops hit you right in the face with citrus notes on top. Citra dominates the taste as well with smooth finish. Good IPA as far as mouthfeel. Tickles the taste buds and hits the back of palate hard. Good session IPA. Tastes like Head Hunter Light.

Sunshine, daydream, now come on over daydream. Great name for a beer. Had this on tap at the brew pub in Portland.

Nice creamy head fades at a med pace, nice foamy lacing, clear honey orange color.

Nose fresh hops, citrus tropical notes, passion fruit dankness, little grassy note, fruity generic hops, just a touch of malt.

Taste brings fruity hops, generic tropical citrus, fruity, creamy wheat-ish malt, little bitter rind and mango skin, juicy, mild pale malt, toasty, hint grassy hop. Finish dry crisp fair bitterness, mild juicy citrus fruit and tropical notes, little fruity stone fruit peachy thing, mild spicy hop note.

Mouth med bod, decent carb.

Overall pretty nice. Very tasty IPA with a great name.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 4/7/2014. Pours sightly hazy bright gold color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fantastic aromas with bright citrus/tropical hops notes with a fair amount of malt balance; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fair amount of grassy/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity and robustness of bright citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with no warming present after the finish as expected of 4.9%. Overall this is an awesome session IPA! All around great complexity and robustness of juicy citrus/tropical hops with moderate malt balance; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.

Served on tap into a nonic glass at the brewpub

A- Poured a clear copper orange color with visible carbonation, soapy head that left some light lace

S- Huge astringent pine, citrus, peach, and tropical fruit notes. Very aromatic

T- Lots of pine, peach, and citrus notes. This is a very bitter IPA and fairly astringent

M- Medium body, prickly carbonation, finishes dry

O- Fat Head's really knows what they are doing with IPAs. This is a really great IPA, especially for 5% ABV.

Bottle shared by a kind person at the Jack's Abby Tap Takeover in Rochester, NY.

Pours out a golden orange/yellow, with a one inch head, and a little bit of lacing down the glass.

Smells very Citra like- slightly catty, with stronger citrus aromas- orange, pineapple, and grapefruit. Very fresh smelling.

The taste is pretty similar. Fresh, zesty citrus taste, with some slight grassiness, and a little bit of lingering bitterness.

Light bodied, great, crisp mouthfeel. High carbonation.

It was nice to see this brought out at the takeover, thanks to the person who brought it!

Smell is piney, grapefruit, orange peel, lemon/lime. Taste is grapefruit peel, orange, lemon zest, mango, papaya, lots of tropical notes. Clean tropical IPA, not dank. Mouthfeel is light, beer is real bitter for a session ipa, aftertaste is grapefruit/citrus peel. Overall this is a great session IPA that I'd totally buy on a regular basis if I had the opportunity. Not distributed in MO, unfortunately.

Bottled 8/24/2015 drank 9/30/2015.

A clear golden color with a big white head which takes a while to settle. A big fruity aroma with noticeable lemon, grapefruit, and a little pineapple. The taste is similar with a big hoppy flavor and just a little bitterness at the beginning that fades quickly to a clean finish. Very little malt body or sweetness. Very nice for a session ale.

A - Pours a golden amber color with a reddish tint. Nice head that quickly dissipates and leaves a nice lacing.

S - Citrus notes, tropical fruits, citrus rinds.

T - Crisp and clean mouth feel, light to medium bodied but easily quaffable. Nice citrus hop notes from start to finish with some malts for a really nice balance. Flavors that stand out are grapefruit, mango, some piney undertones, a bit resinous.

O - Really a solid session IPA that stands out in the category. Easy to drink with big flavors.

Notes - Got this from a friend (JM) who went to a wedding in Ohio and this is the first positive thing I've ever experienced from the worst state ever.

poured out of a 12 bottle into one of my pint glasses, this beer pours a clear, medium golden color with lots of streams of little bubbles continuously rising to the beer's surface. The creamy, fluffy looking white head is about an inch thick when first poured that settles to a very fluffy, thick surface coating with quite excellent lacing indeed. Aromas of citrus, lemony, zesty, slightly grainy hops and a bit of malts here too. Flavors of citrus, lemony, floral, zesty, grainy hops upfront with hints of peach and pineapple that gives way to some crispy malts with nice hints of caramel sweetness. Strong bitterness here for sure for a session IPA. Has a crisp, yet smooth and frothy, medium bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation and a clean finish and slightly dry after taste. A good session IPA here all around. Certainly worth a try.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a SA perfect pint. Bottled on 4/24/14; super fresh. This appears a very clear golden-yellow color with a fluffy white head. The head has good staying power, and leaves beautiful lacing.

The nose is full of citrus, with hints of melon, tropical fruits and a touch of pine. The malt is non-existent in the nose, as one would expect from a session IPA. The taste follows a similar profile, with the citrus, and pineapple dominating, again with the pine hidden in the background. There's almost no detectable malt here, except for a touch of sweetness in the middle.

The mouthfeel is light-medium bodied, as you would expect from a session IPA, and the finish is fairly dry. The carbonation is nice and active, and works well. Overall, this is a great session IPA, and an above average IPA. The citrus and tropical fruits are the star here, and will be very refreshing on a hot summer day.

Poured from draught into a pint glass. Head faded quick but left nice lacing and a thin film. Noticeable hops Maybe a bit much for a session IPA but not real overpowering on the back end. Smell was of some floral notes but not overpowering.
A very nice and drinkable IPA at only about 4.6%. ABV

Bottle from Tipples dated 12/18/14, poured 2/22/15. Two months old worried me a bit, but this pours a beautiful clear copper color with a big fluffy white to off white head. Nice floral aromatics, a bit of perfumey notes, citrus rind, pine. Hops still smell fresh as can be. Flavor follows with a big bitter punch up front, orange rinds, grapefruit juice, pine needles. Very dry body, medium plus carbonation. Pretty impressed this held up after a couple months. Solid session IPA.
