Review - 01: Fathead's Sunshine Daydream
Type: Session Ale
Glass: Pint Glass
Temperature: 45-55 F

Look: A bit hazy with a honey color that muddles to a nice cloudiness helped by an even matrix of small particulates.

Smell: Overwhelming pineapple with a small lick of orange.

Taste: Immediate and powerful hop flavor that settles to a warm citrus rind taste. Souring all the way down, it makes me feel like I bit right into an orange. After whetting on the tongue, a more noticeable orange taste trickles in after breathing. As it warms, it gets easier to drink as the flavor becomes more noticeable. I can tell the water they used was filtered because it doesn't have a hard acid taste. The only acid taste that comes across is the citrus.

Feel: A somewhat viscous feel that sits on the tongue and stays there. Harsh at first sip but mellows quite nicely.

Recommended food pairings: Something with pesto or grilled sandwiches.

Overall, a very nice drink that I'd have sitting out at a picnic or at a cookout. Not a drink to pound 'coz that orange peel effect isn't my favorite thing in the world but it's amazing to get a flavor that odd across. 3/5

Poured into the Spiegelau from a bottle capped on 2/10/15. Very fresh. Clear and golden session-style brew with 3 fingers of foamy, white head. Clean aromas of lemon, mango, hint of pine, noticeable bitterness... GREAT nose for a session IPA. This is also where the train came off of the rails. Assuming ample dry-hopping must have led to the fantastic aromas, because there was very little in the way of those clean flavors on the palate. Some generic orange/citrus, decently balanced bitterness... kind of really bland to be honest. Expected thin mouthfeel for the style, clean aftertaste. Would have loved some more of that good hop flavor that I love in Juju and Headhunter... maybe I'm just not a fan of the session style. Guess I'd rather just have one regular IPA than 2-3 sessions...

Upfront bite, very light IPA. Slight bitter finish.

Enjoyed this brew out of a 16oz pint glass.

A: Pours a bright golden hue with a thick 2-finger white head that slowly dissipates down the glass ending in a wispy lace.

S: Fruity and pine hoppy aroma followed by some citrus notes.

T: Similar the smell – citrus fruits, pine and some bitter hops dominate the flavor.

M: Medium body and medium carbonation and finishes on the dry side of bitter.

O: Just a so-so IPA for me – I would take the head hunter ipa any day of the week.

Sunshine Daydream Session IPA brewed by Fat Heads Brewery & Saloon with an AVB of 4.9%. This brew pours out a nice amber color with a nice, white head. Sunshine Daydream Session IPA is an unfiltered brew. The smell is rich with flavor, but you pick up on some bitterness in the smell. The taste is bitter at first, but it gets better. You pick up on Grapefruit. The aftertaste is nice. Mouthfeel is ok. Overall I'm giving this brew a 3.25 of 5

Nice golden color. I had this at the beach and the taste was good initially but a lingering taste made it tough to drink in the 95 degree heat.
