Appearance: Pours clear from the bottle with a golden color verging on copper; an impressive head fills the glass and leaves enough lacing to please the eye

Smell: Citrus fruit with a touch of mango and a whiff of biscuity malt

Taste: Citrusy and juicy, up front, with the mango developing; just a bit of malt to balance with the finish bright and clean

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: This would be a go-to session IPA for me if I was looking for one; delivers the flavor without the ABV

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 4/7/2014. Pours sightly hazy bright gold color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with some moderate streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fantastic aromas with bright citrus/tropical hops notes with a fair amount of malt balance; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fair amount of grassy/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity and robustness of bright citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with no warming present after the finish as expected of 4.9%. Overall this is an awesome session IPA! All around great complexity and robustness of juicy citrus/tropical hops with moderate malt balance; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.

Fat Head's Brewery "Sunshine Daydream Session IPA"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, "BOTTLED ON: 03/21/17 13:50" and sampled on 08/11/17
$2 @ Giant, State College, PA

Notes via stream of consciousness: Mostly clear body with some visible particulate in suspension - hopefully due to dry-hopping, and I'm thinking OK in my book. It's a deep gold/amber beneath a frothy head of white. The head retention seems to be quite good, and there's some thick lace left along the glass where the head's already dropped. The aroma is bright with pine, pine resin, and light citrusy and tropical fruits. Not surprisingly, the flavor follows. There's some peach and apricot, and orange. Light grapefruit. The label claims that it has "...a light malt backbone" but it's a little bit fuller than that. It's grainy and a little biscuity, and a touch sweet; certainly fuller than I've found in a lot of "session IPAs". Ahh, looking back the lacing has left plenty of streaks and spots of lace on the glass, and there's still a solid surface covering - it's very thin in one spot, but it's still solid. Back to the malt and hops and bitterness, it's very nicely balanced. Often I find session IPAs to be too bitter for the amount of malt that they have but that's not the case here, it's perfectly balanced, and you still do get some bitterness in the end, but it's just enough and it doesn't build on the palate. 60 IBUs according to the label. Some tangerine lingers in the finish as well. Medium-bodied and gently crisp. Nice. One of the better session IPAs I've sampled.

Sunshine, daydream, now come on over daydream. Great name for a beer. Had this on tap at the brew pub in Portland.

Nice creamy head fades at a med pace, nice foamy lacing, clear honey orange color.

Nose fresh hops, citrus tropical notes, passion fruit dankness, little grassy note, fruity generic hops, just a touch of malt.

Taste brings fruity hops, generic tropical citrus, fruity, creamy wheat-ish malt, little bitter rind and mango skin, juicy, mild pale malt, toasty, hint grassy hop. Finish dry crisp fair bitterness, mild juicy citrus fruit and tropical notes, little fruity stone fruit peachy thing, mild spicy hop note.

Mouth med bod, decent carb.

Overall pretty nice. Very tasty IPA with a great name.
