Appears a brilliant copper slight ruby hue to it nice caramel malts came to play, with a whole lot of hops.

Aroma bright citrus notes with big tropical fruit hanging around with each sniff including papaya, mango, a bit of passionfruit in there as well. This is well made pale ale, it’s as hoppy as most IPAs but more flavorful with a moderate level of bitterness only 55 IBUs but it’s kickin’ ass.

Flavor has a strong malt presence some nice caramelization, complemented with big expressive hop notes again with the tropical fruit citrus and herbaceous pine notes in the backend. I could drink this in number without effort, glad to also see it on tap in the Burgh...cans can be found at Fat Head’s in the Southside intermittently that’s where I sourced my six pack.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied even carbonation slick oily hop textures on the palate pretty great tasting beer. Full on lingering hop finish, very nice pleasant experience with each sip.

Overall, I’m down with this beer…quintessentially one of the best pale ales I’ve ever had hands down!

Bottle dated 12-30-16. 12 oz. nonic pint.

A: pours a dark gold or pale copper with streaming carbonation and two fingers of beautiful frothy off-white head. Looks like merangue, it's so thick. Lacing is epic. Cap retains to the very end. Beautiful beer.

S: sweet citrusy pine. Very standard IPA smell. Some floral notes. Coming into this with this brewery's reputation and seeing 6.3%, I am not expecting this to be like what I consider a pale ale. Reminds me of Elysian Space Dust.

T: actually, it is a pale ale. Instantly bready, slightly sweet, and very hoppy. Piney and floral; green; grassy, even - but no onions or cat pee. 55 IBUs, for sure; it really tastes like an IPA but with enough sweetness and maltiness to actually balance the hoppiness. Would have been a standard fare IPA six or seven years ago, but it's a pale now.

M: heavier end of medium. Moderately carbonated. Chewy. A little astringent on the finish, but not unpleasantly so. Would go well with a burger and fries.

O: really, this tastes like a well-balanced and somewhat muted IPA. For people who gravitate to maltier styles and occasionally want a hop bomb, this fits the bill exquisitely. "True" hop heads are bound to be disappointed with second generation hop flavors and balance. In other words, it is pretty perfect.

Another great beer from Fat Heads. Very refreshing pale ale with nice citrus and pine resin from the Citra and Simcoe. Nice hop profile for a pale ale for sure.

Another great beer from fat heads. Guys must be beer wizards. Edit: fresh bottle dated December 12, 2015. Tasted on January 8, 2016. Super bright floral and citrus notes. Gorgeous light orange color with 3 finger head. Bitterness is perfect for the malts, which are there, but the hops are the stars. Wow! So so good. I'd put this fresh up against zombie dust any day.
