Porters were brewed in the US for more than two centuries but after prohibition it pretty much slept with the fishes. Now, thanks to some pioneering craft brewers, the American Porter is back and thriving. A rich and flavorful, dark, robust brew with aromas and flavors of chocolate, caramel, hints of coffee and roast, with a clean bitter hop finish.

On tap at the PDX brewpub.
A: A rich dark brown with tan one finger head that stuck around.
S: Roasty malt, dark chocolate with a solid coffee backdrop.
T: Chocolate comes on strong with a great malt presence. A lightly bitter coffee taste follows with some anise to round it all out.
M: Medium with medium, smooth mouthfeel.
O: Another stellar offering from Fathead's. A memorable porter.

Had two pints of this at Growl Movement Tap Fill in Salem OR.( brewed at the Portland Fat Heads)
Poured a darker brown with a large beige head..very attractive.
Nice roasted malt aromas..with some dark chocolate and medium coffees.
Smooth tasting with the same basis as the aromas..gets a little ashy near the end. Enjoyable.
Nice medium smooth mouth feel.
An awesome drinkable porter.

I love a good porter so maybe im biased. This reminds me very much of Edmund Fitzgerald, but a little less rounded out, and more unrefined and bitter

Poured from a Daily Growler growler into a tulip. Consumed 32oz over about an hour. Wonderful change of flavors as it warmed up. Robust roast flavor, just the right balance of bitterness, coffee, smoke, char--neither flavor overpowers the other. A nicely balanced porter! Full flavored, yet hard to believe this is only 6%. Definitely seek this one out!
