Very unique setting and seating. Plenty of room and very relaxed looking patio. TVS showing a variety of games. Really loved the Dudes Pecan Brown ale.

The Lab Gastropub at USC is a short, 15-minute stroll from the L.A. Memorial Coliseum, making it a great spot to begin or end your experience there. If you are part of a crowd, choose one of The Lab's "Group Projects" plates to share Chipotle Nachos, Kalbi Short Ribs, Guac Fries, etc. Their beer selection is A+ with lots of local brewers featured.
They also have Tap Takeover Tuesdays, where they feature local brewers on 3 taps with giveaways and samples.
Definitely a place to check out if you are in the neighborhood.

this place recently opened next to the Radison on Figueroa Blvd, across the street from the USC campus.

folks seem mellow. not too many folks the afternoon i checked it out (a thursday). the folks that were there were a mix of middle-aged academic types and undergrad students. they had a big screen with a game on. they have chalcboards with equations and chemical bond diagrams decorating the place. some say its cheesy, i say "eh."

the food, its portions, and its price seem decent. had a buffalo chicken wrap, calamari, two old rasputins and a chimay white for about $35.

staff was really accommodating and cordial.

where the place suffers is in selection. it seems stuck between catering to college kids' bud/stella desires and trying to stand out as a craft beer bar. they at least carried a couple of North Coast and Stone beers. they have one tap for green flash ipa, a couple Karl Strauss taps, but most are devoted to stuff like fat tire, stella, woodchuck cider, and blue moon. for a self proclaimed "gastro pub", this selection is pretty mundane.

would i return? yeah, because i work in the areabut would rather travel to little tokyo for Wurstkuche.

CAREFUL WITH PARKING IN THE GARAGE! its free for 2 hrs ONLY if you get a permit from a parking attendant.
