The beer is clear dark brown almost black, hints of ruby, a tan head, rather high, little lacing though.
Malty and hoppy, as expected, fresh bread, porridge, some orange and coffee beans.
Sweet, brown bread and some coffee, dried fruits and the grape-fruit peels, bitter mainly.
Medium high carbonation, small bubbles, rather soft, a dry long finish.
A nice well balanced black IPA, combines the best of two worlds.

A: This beer is dark, brown almost black with hints of burgundy. The massive thick light brown head starts off very large, almost only head, then slowly sinks into rich lacings.
S: Roasted malt with some sweetness to it. Strong black coffee. Some dark dried fruits. Faint notes of vanilla. Some bitter hops.
T: Heavy roasted malt, almost a bit burnt. Sweet and a bit syrupy. Vanilla. Strong black coffee. Only some dark dried fruits. Bitter hops and some citric notes.
M: Long bitter aftertaste. Full body and mild carbonation.
O: A nice beer - the heavy roasted sweet malts combined with the bitter hops was great.

The foam fills up the glass when the beer is being poured. It sinks slowly to a two finger head leaving some thick lacing. The liquid is very dark brown-red, almost black.
The smell reminds me a lot of a stronger American stout: Dry notes of coffee and dark chocolate, some dark bread and a gentle malt sourness. Some medium bitter notes with hints of flowers, lemons and oldfashioned fruit drops. Maybe there is a hint of tar in the background?
The smell starts with a massive roasted dry flavour. It is soon accomplished by a flavour of both malt sourness and hop bitterness. Very clean and dry. The bitterness develops into a complex flavour with flowers, some butter, matured cheeses, lemon-lime soda and hints of sweet coffee and roasted nuts. The aftertaste is fresh with some perfumed notes, lime, roasted malts, cocoa and a gentle touch of toffee.
The carbonation is gentle with lots of very small gentle bubbles. The liquid is smooth and a little thick.
A fine black ale. I had hoped for some more hoppy flavours, though.
