THIS BEER IS NOT THE HOFBRAU YOU BUY IN BOTTLES THAT IS MADE IN MUNICH NOT PITTSBURGH. THIS BEER IS TAPROOM ONLY IN THE HOFBRAU RESTAURANT IN PITTSBURG

my rating is for hofbrau Munich but I would like to get the word out.

Rich golden orange color, cloudy with a few particles floating around and a decent, thick head. Nose is ripe bananas with a hint of spice and sweet malt. Taste is similar- not a lot of cloves coming through which goes the banana a strong, slightly flat flavor. Has a good mouthfeel with plenty of chew. Overall it's something I would recommend but not go out of my way for. There's a few german hefes that are better balanced.

Pours pale amber with plenty of head to go around. Retains for most of glass leaving behind an abundance of suds. Smell is spices and clove, slight banana. Some wheat and sweet honey like malt. Taste follows suit. Banana was subtle to me, the spice is what really stood out. Very crisp and sharp feel. Excellent refresher after a day in the heat. Will seek out again.

11.2 ounce bottle poured into a tulip glass. I'm not sure this is the right beer, mine isn't from Pittsburgh. It's from the actual Hofbrau in Munich.

L---Slightly cloudy, bright golden color. Two finger head faded slowly down to a ring and left ok lacing. .

S---Strong wheat. Banana, clove, bubblegum.

T---Follows the nose perfectly.

F---Medium/light body. Well carbonated.

O---A classic. Really lets you know what those Germans can do.

I love Euro hefe's and wit biers etc. I grew up in America, so I learned to love slammable, non bitter lagers. This has similar slammable qualities, only, with these German hefe's, you get the whole banana thing. So yummy and you can just drink a ton of em with no offense. This one in particular is my favorite. The strongest banana flavor of any hefe I've tasted. It's like banana bread. Iced wheat glass. Throw the bottle in the freezer for 20 minutes before opening and what you will have is a banana beer exctasy. My favorite. So good. Line em up.

This is one of the top (if not the top) Hefe Weizen out there. Never disappoints. Hint of bananas. Great flavors.

Poured from a bottle into a weizen glass.

Pours a just barely hazy yellow tinged with peach/gold. Excellent two-finger foamy head but very little staying power or lacing.

The aromas are an ester explosion--plenty of classic banana and bubblegum. Clove and medicinal notes follow, with a touch of graininess.

The flavors follow the nose--sweet esters very heavy up front, with a touch of spicy clove and yeast and a medicinal background. Lacking the classic tartness at the end.

The brew is light and very drinkable.

Overall a solid if somewhat sweet version of a great style.

Heavily spiced. Citrus is a bit ripe, orangey. Muted banana. Wheat, barley. Mineral. Decent hefeweizen, a bit rough around the edges.

Nice hazy golden pour with a two and a half finger head of frothy white foam. As it settles, organic shapes of lace cling to the glass.

Sour wheat and malt serve the base of this nice hefe weizen. As it warms, some nice subtly spicy clove emerges and creates a nice light, mildly earthy aroma.

Banana, sour wheat, subtle malt, and clove. A good balance of flavors, and easy to pick out all the essential qualities of this uniquely refreshing style.

Medium feel, with a good carb level and a frothy finish. Full, crisp.
