This is one of the most commonly found true Belgians in the region and I kind of figured I had reviewed it at some point but there you go. Poured into a goblet and had great head action, needing wait time between pours to contain the whole bottle. A dark golden in color, with some thick white lace. nose is balanced and esoteric, with fruit, clove, spice, esters, and Belgian yeast.

The taste is as varying and rich as the nose, with initial honey and biscuit being parried by citrus, noble hops, and more yeast. The texture is delicate without being thin and helps smooth out some of the rough with all those different flavors. This isn't a style I usually jump at but this is a solidly crafted, enjoyable product.

First had this beer 7 years ago at the age of 21 to accompany my moles frites in Paris. I drank it out of a chalice. At this time I was totally ignorant to the quality of beverage I was drinking. Since that day I've revisited this beer a few times and each time it is better than I remember. It is golden in color and pours out with several fingers of lacing. Belgians have a disntinction of having firm head, where you can almost drop a dime on it and it'll stay above the liquid.

This is a very sweet beer with spicy notes similar to that of a leffe. This is a hearty drink and will warm you up clocking in at 6.7% abv. If you like blonde belgians you will love this beer. Always consistent, always excellent.

Light copper color is slightly cloudy. Three fingers of loose foamy head. Lacing is moderate. Smell is faintly of alcohol and Belgian yeast, not very strong. Flavor is slightly perfumy, with fruit, bread, apples, Belgian yeast and a present albeit faint alcohol note. No bitterness. Mouthfeel is light with a medium amount of carbonation.

Overall: This brewery has a great history, being one of the oldest breweries in Belgium. However, I just found it to be lacking in mouthfeel and depth of flavor. The perfumy notes don’t really do it for me, and although the alcohol is light, it it borders on being too liquor like. Just average.
POST COMMENT: As this beer warmed, it had a cider like quality, with clear apple overtones and a creamier mouthfeel. It was more enjoyable this way, and I would recommend letting it warm slightly before imbibing.
