Grabbed this off the 20% off shelf which leads me to believe it's past it's prime. The abv is right on the line and there is no bottled on date on the bottle though.

A: Pitch black and sludgy. Golden brown yellow head. Very elegant. Looks thick, head stays for some time.

S: Boozy smoky. Alcohol really comes through but it gives it a good sweetness.

T: This is actually really bangin'. I do think it may be a little past its prime but that certainly doesn't take much away. A little light, a little boozy but some great smoke and certainly some great vanilla taste to it. Carbonation is pretty smooth: I'm drinking this rather warm so I can imagine if it were cooler it would be ever better.

M: Carbonation is smooth but it's very very light. Nice flavor development.

Overall, for a beer bought solely because it had a cute little fox thing on it, this was a winner. I'll take this off the 20% off shelf any day and will be seeking out more bottles if I can. Highly recommended.

It's very interesting and it has a good synergy between the alcohol and other flavor notes although the alcohol is a little overpowering.

A surprise for sure. Spain know for it's Irish Stouts? Nicely played however. Rich and aromatic. I'm getting the malty roasty as well as well as a pipe tabacco and chocolate maybe even some wood. Mirrored in the taste as well with a long almost distractingly lingering bitterness. Overall good show.

Pours a black color. 3/4 inch head of a tan color. Great lacing and great retention. Smells of sweet malt, pale malt, dry hops, and slight roasted malt. Fits the style of an Irish Dry Stout. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of roasted malt, sweet malt, alcohol, slight earthy malt, hint of dry hops, and hint of bread. Overall, good appearance, body, and blend.

A- Poured into the glass with a substantial retained, tan colored head, with a creamy look to it- bordering on rocky- with substantial lacing. The body is a completely opaque dark brown with no visible carbonation.

S- Moderate stewed and roasted malt, which are almost stifled by some mild esters and mild non-descript phenolics. A little note of burnt candy sugar there too, for some reason.

T- A good replicate of the nose. Definitely unbalanced towards the malts... with a touch of roastiness, some very mild fruity esters and a touch of those non-descript phenolics. Finishes moderately dry. No hops (bitterness or flavor) noted anywhere... and no bitterness either from the roasted grain... curious.

M- A medium body with substantial creaminess presumably from unattenuated sugar and a fine pervasive soft carbonation. No astringency. Coats the mouth nicely.

D- Drinks really well. No single component of this beer becomes overpowering... but it seems to lack that intangible character of great beer.

Another Guineu, quite a grab-bag brewery I will say. Never sure what you're gonna get with them. No bottled-on date but a best-by of 9/2017.

A - 330ml pour to an oversized wine glass. A dark brown pour with a bit of light getting through and reddish highlights. Pretty much no head on the pour but a thin ring+beige bubbles around the edge, which does retain for the duration. A few lace bits left.

S - Primarily cocoa and bread, with touches of smoke and wet dog. Or maybe wet rat, considering. Kinda faint on the whole.

T - Caramel and dark fruit come out here with some licorice hanging in there too. Less cocoa and more of a solid roasted malt profile. Light grassy+citrus hops break on through. Still kind of a weird off-flavor going on but it's not too obtrusive.

M - Lowish carbonation as hinted from the appearance but a bit of bubbly going on. Slick feel, decent body but a bit flimsy overall.

O - Er, not bad, but shoddy for sure. Lacking carbonation, some weird off-flavor, not a whole lot of stout characteristics when it comes down to it. Some decent flavors going on though.

Dark cola pour, light brown around the edges. nice head dissipates to a thin collar, then to nothing towards the end.

Aroma is dark chocolate and cocoa, leather, roasted malt. Some phenolic band-aid.

The dark chocolate and cocoa are pretty nice, although not huge or rich. Malt is roasty while not bready. Some light coffee. Hint of vanilla on the end and tannin. For the style it's a bit thin. The complexity isn't there and this is more of a black ale that's just short of being a stout.

Garnet-tinged midnight brown with ribbon of sepia film that leaves wisps.
Molasses, black grape, prune and charcoal on the nose – more treacle than anything else.
Fig, port, plenty of char, hints of espresso grounds and baking chocolate with maybe some cedar hops.
Black currant finish and dry woody linger. Medium, oily, plenty of chew, slight burn, salty.

A bit too ashy and treacly i.e. dark, overall. Strong cheese lightens it and shows some chocolate, but there’s still little hops and no sweetness. Add in a chalky, unsweetened cocoa bitterness in the linger and lots of black malt acid, and this just isn’t much fun.

Lot 84 bottle.

A: Quite dark brown pour with a decent mocha head. Retention is middle of the road and the lacing is decent too.

S: Mild roasted malt aroma with some milk chocolate mixed in. There is a milky sweetness to it as well, almost like caramelized lactose or something like that.

T: Tastes like very creamy and sweet milk chocolate mixed with some decent roasted malt. I don't know if this has lactose in it, but honestly it tastes a lot like a milk stout mixed with an irish stout.

M: Super creamy and smooth which makes it deceptively thick for the low ABV. Carbonation is dead on.

O: An interesting and unique take on an irish dry stout. I really feel like it's more of a milk stout than an irish stout due to the sweetness and creaminess. Either way I really enjoyed it. Simple but tasty with high drinkability.

Bottle dated 06/04/14

Pours dark and wasn't getting any light through it. Finger of bubbly khaki head that laces wonderfully.

Smells of coffee, chocolate, caramel, and molasses.

Oh man great chocolate flavors on this. It comes across as a big milk chocolate flavor. A little toastiness. Chocolate and coffee aftertaste. It's like drinking a cold cafe mocha.

Big medium body on this. Drinks quite smooth.

Good stout here. Hits the big chocolate notes with a balance of coffee and toasted notes.
