This beer is exactly as advertised: "If you love cherry pie, you are in for a life changing experience". It is a tart cherry delight. Definitely a dessert beer, but unlike other dessert beers, I could drink several of them in one sitting!

On tap at Rocky Mountain Brewery tonight. I opened an account on Beer Advocate just to rate this beer. I feel like I'm a kid again eating cherry pie at grandma's house. For interest, try warming up a few oz's in the microwave. The bartender did that for me and I swear If i had some ice cream I would have added it to the beer!
Pours a deep, dark red, looks like cherry juice in a glass, smells sweat and cherry like. Taste is sweet yet balanced with tartness. I don't get any hops or malt, I have always been disappointed by fruit beers, but not this one! If you love cherry pie, you have to try this one!

 

 

 

 

 

Poured from 12oz can. 2015 Batch, I think this was brewed in September. This beer is a golden ale that has lots and lots of Montmorency Cherries grown in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. They also add some Ceylon cinnamon

L: Pours a dark, rich red cherry color with 1/2 finger of light pink foam. Clarity is good but body is so dark it's hard to notice.
S: Smells of fresh tart cherries, cinnamon, a little sweet. Very mouth-watering.
T: Wow, very strong cherry flavor, slightly tart, slightly sweet. Cinnamon and pie crust are present. Very moderate hops (not sure if there are any at all)
F: Medium to heavy body, moderate alcohol, feels full on the tongue, moderate but acceptable carb.
O: This is one of the better fruit beers around. It encapsulates the fresh cherry flavor surprisingly well. And while it's concept is not complex, it executes to perfection. It's sweet without being cloying. Tart without making your mouth really pucker. This beer is just delicious, extremely drinkable.

Served from a 12 ounce can into a 6 ounce wide-mouthed glass.

Foam gushes from the can and it takes numerous pours to reign in, but I get there eventually. Having to sip a bit of the foam to avoid a mess, I immediately realize how sweet this beer is and that I should pour some for my wife.

There's something soda-like about the beer's appearance, with the head a pale fizzy white deal tinged with crimson color. The body looks like cherry juice, pulpy enough to be chewed, but with non-stop carbonation.

Quite a nose on this: thick, pulpy cherry and cherry skin. A burnt crust aroma is underneath this and I really think these guys captured cherry pie here, just as the can's label suggests.

Nose and palate connect here pretty consistently. Aggressively tart cherry flavor, sweet cherry skin and a bit of sweet malt, before a pie crust flavor that mingles with a slight vegetal flavor.

Initially I found the beer too sweet, but it grows on me. The tartness too takes some getting used to. Eventually It becomes an enjoyable drinker with a good medium body.

This was a pleasant surprise and a cool extra from the great BA, StrongRepublican... A nice little brew.

 

A: Cloudy and pulpy with a thin white rocky head. Heavy and viscous in appearance like fresh pressed fruit.
S: Cinnamon spice over tart cherries.
T: Huge sweet cherries, bold cinnamon, pie crust/biscuit, caramel malt. Rich cherry pie puree!
M: Full and rich with a nice viscous feel and perfect carbonation.
O: Insane!!! The only comparison would be NG Belgian Red but this is an incredible fruit beer!

Pours a clear cranberry red with no head and no lacing. Smell is very subtle with cherry juice, cherries, and slight cinnamon aromas. Taste is of cherry juice and sour cherries. This beer has a low level of carbonation with a pretty flat mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer based on the taste alone. I bet this one would be quite awesome if the carbonation level was increased.

A clear, dark, beautiful red throughout with nearly no visibile carbonation. This pours like deep, rich cherry juice with just the faintest hint of bubbly.

The aroma is extremely muted at colder temperatures though opens up significantly when at room temperature: a vibrant blast of cherry, both skin and flesh, along with a hint of cracker or graham.

The flavor is similar, with genuine, juicy cherry flavor from start to finish without much else. There's a touch of a medicinal quality as well, though I think that may be accentuated due to the lack of carbonation.

The mouthfeel is nearly full in body with basically no carbonation. I think this beer would really be much better with lively carbonation.

Authentic and tasty cherry beer though hurt by a lack of carbonation. This reminds me of New Glarus fruit beers, and that's always a compliment.

A - Growler didn't give off much of a hiss when it was opened, but it was also filled right to the brim. A hard pour yields a late-rising thin white foam that dissipates quickly. Spotty lace lingers as the beer is consumed. Transparent dark red body.

S - Smells like cherry pie. Graham cracker crust, sugary notes, and tons of authentic cherry aroma - avoids smelling fake or medicinal as many cherry beers tend to do.

T - Sweet cherry pie, lightly tart, sugary pie crust. Fairly sweet, but fruity tartness balances things out enough to keep it from becoming cloying. More of a 4.25, so I've fudged the numbers a bit.

M - Nice sticky cherry pie texture, with plenty of residual sugars and light tartness. Lower carbonation, medium body, and no obvious alcohol.

D - Reminds me a lot of New Glarus Belgian Red or Selins' Grove Phoenix Kriek. Great stuff, although a few more bubbles would help. I'll try to find this on-tap if I'm ever in Denver.

A - Growler opened with no hiss, beer poured flat with just a touch of white head that bubbled up to a ring for a second before fading to nothing.

S - Nose is full of rich, sweet cherries.

T - This tastes a lot like cherry pie filling. Cherries are neither aritificial nore medicinal. Very pleasant to drink with really good taste for what it is. Very sweet.

M - Mouthfeel is actually fine, carbonation came a little bit as the beer warmed up. Lighter side of medium bodied, syrupy.

O - Good beer for a cherry beer. As far as fruit beers and cherry beers go this is quite good and easy to drink.

App- Bright ruby with no head. Some white foam and/or lacing would have killed it.

Sm- Sweet cherries and a small amount of spice lurking in the background.

Ta- Tastes like it smells. The cherry is just so vibrant its amazing. The cinnamon is left lingering afterwards and really helps to cut the sweetness.

Dr- Pretty .sweet, not sure if I could do a whole pint.

Wow, have been trying to get a hold of this beer for a long time. Glad I finally had a chance to try it. And believe me, I had several pints once I finally did. Wish I could have got a growler. Pours a really pretty deep red with a pink head. Nose has fresh cherries and a nice crust component. As does the taste. Drinks well, nicely carbonated.

Pours a real lively red with little white head. No lacing. A great looking beer.

Tons of cherries in the nose. Very sweet and syrupy with an unexpected cinnamon element. Smells like cherry pie. It was hard to stop smelling this beer and get to the tasting.

Wow! Taste like cherry pie with a really light crust. It's in your face sweet but the cinnamon acts as a good distraction. It seems to balance out the syrupy feel a bit. Real good fruit beer.

Mouthfeel is good. As I said, it is a bit syrupy but still easy to drink.

Overall I was super impressed with this one. One of the best fruit beers I've ever had.

wow. not expecting this from rocky mountain.

appearance - ruby red, minor head, dies quick and no lacing.

smell - sugary. cherries. nice.

taste - wow. syrup thickness. sugar goodness. tasty. something sessionable, something sipping all in one.

mouthfeel - while being so sugary it is yet so drinkable a minor miracle.

The beer pours an electric, bright red color with a few white bubbles, but no real head to speak of. The aroma is awesome. I get a lot of syrupy cherry notes in the aroma, as well as a little bit of cinnamon. The flavor tastes almost exactly like cherry pie. I get a ton of sweet, syrupy cherries as well as some bready malt, vanilla and cinnamon notes. The fruit flavor in the beer is amazingly fresh tasting. Medium, syrupy mouthfeel and low carbonation. An outstanding fruit beer.

I had this at the GABF last year. This beer has got to be the best replica towards a cherry pie flavored beer that anyone has every attempted. While some beer critics may question whether it really should be as high as I rate it I have to say I have never had a beer taste like a high quality cherry pie, crust and all. This brewery is the Willy Wonka of all breweries and this is one of my favorite beers. And I'm an IPA enthusiast.

I believe Dan Carey of New Glarus might have some competition in the fruit beer category as Duane has hit one out of the park here. Pours a reddish brown with a small white head. Aroma of cherries, brown sugar, and more cherries. Taste knocked me for a loop; slightly tart, like drinking cherry pie. I could do several of these. Hope Duane keeps brewing this on at least a semi-regular basis.

To start off, I know cherry beers have been done before, and often (New Glarus) done quite well. This one, however, blew me away. This one pours a hazy ruby with a small tight white head. Aromas of juicy red cherries, brown sugar and almonds. The flavor here is amazing, like liquid cherry pie. Lightly tart, I could drink a lot of this one.
