A little tinny - maybe I got an old bottle, as this was part of a pick-a-six. Poured it into a pint glass and the taste improved. Distinct lemon on the palate, hops were pretty low-key....towards the bottom of the glass the hops came through much better, more balanced. Should have shaken it lightly and opened it an hour later. Wheat came through a lot more towards the end, also.. Not a bad beer, I'd like to try this on tap to give it a fair review.

Pours a slightly hazy orange golden color with off-white head. Floral notes, citrus, and grass on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with some malt and hop resin balance.

Just bought my second growler. First- This brewery/restaurant is amazing. We found it on a whim just driving down South Milwaukee/St. Francis area. The servers/host staff are incredible. They provide an inviting experience I can't find many places in Milwaukee. I like on the North West side, but I'll travel for this service, AND the beer. While I'm usually a HOMER for Lake Front IPA, Envy from a Growler is not really comparable. They both have qualities that set them apart so it's hard to say what I enjoy more.

Pour and view is spot on......it looks soft and inviting, not to much head off the growler pour.

Smells sweet, very soft in aroma. Not too fruity, less filling smell then it appears

Tastes concentrated with fresh cleanliness. It doesn't overpower the pallet, and isn't too sharp like some IPAs, it's light, but powerful, very concentrated.

Feels bold, but not cocky, it's not trying to stand above the rest. It feels comfortable with how it was brewed. Some IPAs seem to scream, HEY I'm a bold IPA, but this beer is confident and holds a Milwaukee swagger.

I'm very proud for this beer. I'd put this up with many others. Only other IPA i'd put before it is Ethos IPA from Tall Grass Brewing......not that it's better, but they hold the same confidence.

My only thought is how do more people get exposed to it? Even in Milwaukee, bring the growler to Rays.....

I am not normally one to care much about how a beer looks, but the dense, dimpled head on this one was really something to admire and enjoy. I also greatly enjoyed the maltiness, easygoing mouthfeel, and perfectly balanced citrus hop bite. There is even something in the aroma and lingering aftertaste that is quite appealing and atypical for an ipa, very biscuity. I am shocked the reviews are so unfavorable on this, and glad I did not read before going to the store. Some mention a light or golden hue--my specimen is a rich amber. Makes me wonder if they may have revamped the recipe. Maybe a bit too sweet to be an everyday pour, but certainly worth seeking out.

0.5 L in a pilsner glass at Parkside 23 on 8.11.2014. Cloudy and golden with a big fluffy white head. Typical hefe aroma with lots of bananas. Flavor has elements of bananas, cloves, and candy sugar. Despite this, it is neither overly sweet or too dry. Smooth and creamy finish with a medium to medium heavy body. Low carbonation.

Serving: Bottle into pint
Served: 17 July 2014

Appearance: Pours a hazy yellow, paler than many IPAs, with a strangely off-white, semi-brown head. The head really is quite ugly on this one until it dies down a bit, which takes some time. Leaves some lacing on the glass as the head collapses into about a quarter-finger of bubbles.

Smell: Smells of musky, dank, earthy hops along with some citrus notes. Hop aromas are not as strong as many other IPAs.

Taste: Not what I was expecting. This is a huge malt-driven IPA. Massive light-caramelly malt backbone along with the same dank, citrusy hops as in the nose. The hops add some qualities of earthiness to the beer, which is a bit off-putting at first, though one can get used to it. Hops do not come through cleanly. Finishes quite bitter.

Mouthfeel: Massive malt backbone, decent carbonation.

Overall: As a malt-driven IPA, you need to expect something different from the thinner ones that seem to be more popular now. This is almost along the lines of an English-style IPA, but has too much malt and too weird a hop profile to fit cleanly into that category. An unbalanced IPA, and not in a good way. Would not have again. An IPA on the border between okay and poor.
