Evergreen Liquors is my go to neighborhood bottle shop. I live 3 minutes away from the store and visit at least once a week. They have an awesome selection, considering they are not a superstore like others in the Louisville market. Three Floyd's products are always available here. Kyle, the beer manager, has a wonderful relationship with Founder's. Even though the selection may not be as wide ranging as the big box "superstores" the value is where Evergreen capitalizes. Usually lower prices than nearby competitors.

I'll keep up my weekly trips. If I ever move out of the neighborhood, I'd still go out of my way to visit weekly!

Somewhat of a hidden gem on the east side of Louisville, Evergreen Liquors is not a beer-shop per se, but has an impressive beer cave that is often stocked with a handful of harder to find beers if you know where to look and can stop by on a frequent basis. For example, my most recent catch was of two limited-release bottles - Stone's Espresso IRS and Evil Twin's Imperial Biscotti Break Natale - something that even the more beer-oriented stores in Louisville haven't had on their shelves.

Price-wise, most of their offerings are comparable with other local beer stores. Perhaps you might find a dollar or two difference in either direction with respect to 22oz bombers and some of the higher abv 4-packs, but their prices are generally fair. Combine that with the opportunity to snag something unexpected from time-to-time and it usually makes for a good enough reason to make a stop.

As for the staff - this is a full service liquor store with large wine and liquor selections, so I've never really had the opportunity to engage any staff member in particular with their beer selection, and I do not know whether or not they have a resident beer expert. But that being said, the staff has always been friendly and fast every time I've visited.

Not many places in this area can compete with the overall selection of craft beer at Evergreen. There's usually a few local vendors there when I go on Friday's allowing you to sample. Prices are competitive with other stores in the area, but the variety is what brings me to evergreen. Good service also.

Overall a great experience. They didn't have a ton limited release or hard-to-find offers but a great selection of go-tewz. I picked up a few Jolly Pumpkins and a Stone Southern Charred. Certainly a huge selection of Founders, JP, Stone, KY-based beers (BBC, Alltec, West 6th), tons of Belgium standards.

I asked the beer guy for suggestions and he offered a few and one was the Stone SC. I think it was an excellent recommendation.

The prices were significantly lower than other stores in the state.

One of the better independent liquor stores in Louisville for beer.

Their atmosphere is pretty standard. Shelves of product, some promotional posters and displays for a few things. Set up like your standard bigger chain liquor store but smaller.

They have a good selection of American craft and some imports. A cooler door devoted to Belgian beer, German beer and then a few American micro cooler doors, as well as doors of wine and BMC beer. They also have a walk in cooler where you can find maybe 50 six packs to choose from and larger packages of BMC beer.

Selection wise, they have a good representation of the region including beers from Schlafly, Upland, Founders, Bell's, Three Floyds, BBC, and Great Lakes. As well as beers from around the nation. And some imports but not as many as you'd find at other stores. However, it seems like the more limited beers sit around at this store a bit longer which is very nice. Also, their prices seem to be a bit lower than other places in town.

Overall, this is my favorite place to go when picking up a few six packs in Middletown. The beer seems to be fresher here than at some places in town. They have better prices and limited beer seems to stay on shelves here a bit longer. Their staff is friendly and like to talk about beer too.
