A great date joint. Small, dimly lit, with a glit and woody feel. Good food, lots of excellent cheese that you can't find anywhere else, an awesome wine selection, and every day they offer a couple of bottles for twenty bucks a piece.

However, this is not a beer bar. Sorry. They got about twenty craft bottles and nothing on tap, and that puts them about on a par with the frat boy sports bars right down the street.

So, again, nice place. Excellent spot for a date. Good food, good service. But by no means is it a beer destination, especially with Triton and Brugge each being a block away.

This place has a great mid 30's speakeasy atmosphere to it, with not a whole lot of dining room seating. Most of the seating is located outside, which makes me curious as to what kind of business they do in the winter. There are two bars, one located upstairs and one located downstairs...both with basically the same offerings.

The cuisine is basically the new wave American, with a slight Mediterranean flare. The food is definitely well crafted with decent portion sizes. The waiting staff seems very knowledgable about everything on the menu.

As far as the beer goes, this place, surprisingly, has a better beer selection than wine selection (at least glass selection...their bottle selection was a bit nicer). I started off with a wonderful Lindemann's Framboise and ended up pairing the Arrogant Bastard with my main course.

I went down to the bar afterwards and was greeted with an excellent selection. I had a glass of vintage Old Curmudgeon and finished the night off with a JW Lees Harvest Ale (aged in port casks).

Overall, a must see if you are ever in the Broad Ripple area.

Corner Wine Bar is located right in the heart of Broadripple. It sits underneath the faux-brit pub The Wellington. In order to get to said restaurant, one merely has to slip down some stairs into the nearly always crowded basement. There are numerous small tables set for 2-4 people. One side of the room is occupied by the bar area and a small stage. Saturday nights a live bluegrass band plays and they are fantastic musicians. The noise level is usually quite high, but there always remains some shreds of privacy. In my experience, service has been friendly and helpful. Along with a large cellar selection of wines (it is a wine bar after all), they offer 20 or so craft brews in bottle. This is a oft changing list. When I last visited, I had DFH 90 minute, Bell's Two Hearted Ale, and a Three Floyds Gumballhead. I remember seeing North Coast Scrimshaw, Victory Prima Pils, North Coast Old Rasputin, Spaten, and I found out later that Arrogant Bastard was on special for $2.50 a bottle.
The food is what really makes this place special. They have an amazing menu. I had some pasta dish with linguini and a garlic cream sauce. It was fantastic with clear flavors. I tried several other of my dinner mate's foods and all tasted very great. There's so much more to be said, but I'm getting tired of typing. If you are looking for a great evening get away with your special someone or even a nice business dinner location, this is it.
