I paid five dollars for a six pack, i didn't expect the beer to be amazing it is tagged as an American Wheat Ale and it does its job its not special or anything, I wouldn't seek it out but for what it is its not bad. People say its a "Drain Pour", its a drinkable wheat ale nothing more nothing less couldn't beat the price, give it to someone if you are going to pour it down the drain be constructive some beers are better than others but I'd rather have any beer over no beer.

355ml can. More obfuscated contract brewing marketing shenanigans - my spidey sense is tingling!

This beer pours a glassy pale golden yellow colour, with one fat finger of puffy, loosely foamy, and bubbly off-white head, which leaves a bit of paramecia lace around the glass as it quickly sinks away.

It smells of gritty, and equally musty wheat grain, over-aged white wine, a weird dry honeyed banana fruitiness, and some acrid yeastiness. The taste is a 'heady' blend of wheat grain and corn husk astringency, ethereal banana chips, well-muted savoury spice, and still somewhat repugnant earthy, stale-seeming yeast.

The bubbles are pretty sedate, just a weak edginess popping in and out, the body medium-light in weight, and kind of tight in its workaday smoothness. It finishes off-dry, the generic wheatiness starting to crumble, exposing the well-established cracks of the actual brewing process employed here.

Blah - another marketing wash job, one at least a bit better dressed up than is usual for these guys (by that, I mean Minhas). Pretty underwhelming for the style, though at least not out-right off-putting. I'd sure like to see how this contract brewer's wares fare in their hometown's craft beer congregations.

Light orange-y amber with, pretty much, no head. Light haziness. Looks pretty bad.

Honey malts, faint banana, and some herb and yeast notes. Wheat grain forward, but the quality is compromised.

Woah! Tastes like a wheat/corn combo! Adjuct hefe? What a sweet mess! Canned corn, apple esters, milled grain, pale kilning, and some diacetyl. Finishes tangy and astringent. No thanks.

Watery and wet. Sticky. Has some syrupy quality that could be defined as hefty in the body.

Whatever this beer is, it isn't good. Drainpour or giveaway... anybody want the rest of it?

24oz tallboy can, drank out the can

look is in the can. the smell is wheat and fermented apples, not great. taste is crisp wheat, sweet apple, tangerine. it finishes dry but otherwise the feel is unremarkable.

weird beer that I want to call an abomination, but it's not that bad.

Bought a six pack of this from Grocery Outlet in FLorence. ( on the coast camping).
$4.99

I didn't look at the beer..straight from can around campfire. Nice enough can sure.
Smells really like a cheap lager with added cereal, not appetizing.
Taste is also like a cheaper American pale lager with added breakfast cereal, nothing like a hefeweizen and even barely an American Wheat beer really.
Mouthfeel is OK i suppose no great shakes, but i got it down.
Pretty bad stuff,i began to get heartburn after two cans and the rest of the six is still in the cooler.
Not great..their "IPA" was far better ( even if it wasn't an IPA).

Poured this into a pint glass.

A- Cloudy yellow/orange. I see a lot of particles floating around. Had a nice 2.5 finger head, but fizzled down quickly. Looks like cloudy orange soda, but flat/no bubbles.

S- Yeasty, malts. The smell is faint. No hops.

T- This tastes horrible. Yeasty, some spices mixed with aluminum. Some weird bitterness, yet some sweetness. Some citrus.

M- Somewhat syrupy. No carbonation.

Drinkability- Terrible.

O- Overall, this is a bad beer. With every sip I feel like I want to puke. Drain Pour.

Cloudy orange with a medium sized white colored head.

Smells of wheat malt and slightly metallic. Not much scent slight cooked vegetable and and faint lemon.

Starts out mildly sweet with a vague lemon taste to it.. Not offensive tasting just sort of generic.

Mouthfeel is OK.

Overall a generic wheat beer. Nothing here to seek out.

A medium sized white head falls pretty quickly into the thinning lacing above a semi-opaque orangish-yellow golden colored beer.

A light sour grains aroma with some very light spice atributes, but not really enough to tell which or what they are.

Again with the lighter wettish tasting beer with just a hint of oranges and lighter sour grains.

The aftertaste borders on have a slight dryness to almost have a wetness to it and it harbors none or maybe very little taste with this light bodied hefeweizen.

Like their Blacktop Blonde this beer would best be suited to an adventure where quantity is more desired.

This one mosdef came to me courtesy of local, in-person trader, tone77. Many thanks!

From the CAN: "Ameri[CAN] Wheat Ale"; "Award Winning Craft Brew"; "Hefeweizen [-] TailGate Beer does an Ameri[CAN] take on the German classic. This hard-to-pronounce cloudy ale uses a traditional "hefe" (yeast) to develop notes of citrus and spice. Proud of the name's "weizen" (wheat) base ingredient, TGB draws most of its flavor from the famed grass plant. This Hefe is one truly crisp and refreshingly unfiltered ale that garnishes well with a lemon or an orange."; "Be sure to impress your friends with your fine tuned palate and cultured vocabulary next time you belly up to your TailGate Beer Heh-Feh-Vite-Zehn"; "'The Official Beer of Tailgating'".

I made sure that the CANtents were well shaken before undertaking the Crack so as to get their precious hefe into suspension. It was a pretty full CAN and the inverted Glug took all of the mastery that I could muster as the head was foaming up quickly. For all of it that I started out with, I ended up with less than a finger of thin, foamy, bone-white head with limited retention. Color was a slightly hazy (not cloudy) sunshine-yellow. Nose had an odd caramel/ butterscotch aroma and my initial thought was Diacetyl. Mouthfeel was thin and watery and the taste was unlike any hefeweizen that I could remember. It tasted more of musty yeast than citrus fruit. Ugh. The CANQuest (TM) rules of engagement state that I must drink it all for it to count, but this was doing nothing to endear me to the style. Finish was semi-dry, but the taste was completely off. Where was this gem made? Monroe, Wisconsin! Say no more. And I won't.

Poured froma 12 oz. can. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is very sweet, a bit fruity.Taste is, well, different. Lots of malts, some sweetness, a bit of apple and slight hints of banana. Feels light in the mouth and overall is a mediocre beer.

Pours a murky honey orange with a foamy orange-white head that settles to a thin cap on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, wheat, and banana baby food. Taste is much the same with a sweet grain flavor on the finish. This beer has a low level of carbonation with an almost flat mouthfeel. Overall, this is a poor beer that is a bad example of the style.

Poured from a 12 oz can. It had a similar appearance to other Hefeweizens on the pour, but cleared up fairly quickly.

Smell contained a hint of orange, but was dominated by the smell of yeast, but sort of stale.

First few sips were initially bland with a slight orange flavor. This gave way to a slightly stale yeasty taste. The spicy notes of the flavor disappeared behind the bland yet stale taste of the beer through the finish. Did not have strong characteristics of a Hefeweizen.
