Quite simply, far too much sulphur. And whilst not a bad beer, not an American Pale Ale as listed here, so either incorrectly categorized or not to style. Some Inconsistency between brews, especially between kegs and bottles

Format: a solid brown 330mL bottle with a decent label.

Appearance: pale gold in colour with a light haze, some fine carbonation visible. A small white head hangs about at a half-finger. Looks pretty darn good.

Aroma: a very crisp and clean aroma of tropical fruits - I can pick passionfruit, pineapple and some stone fruits - with a floral note behind. Smells very tasty and very refreshing.

Taste: a bit softer here than on the nose, but definitely the same profile dominated by tropical fruits with a touch of floral and some sweet malts here also.

Aftertaste: still some fruits here with a touch of bitterness from the hops. Pretty much spot-on.

Mouth feel: moderate in body with a spritely carbonation that brings those flavours through nicely. A little smooth, and certainly very drinkable.

Overall: a very nice example of the American Pale Ale style. The tropical fruits up front make for a literally and figuratively pleasant shift from the usual citrus and pine. At AU$70 a case I would say this one is definitely worth it.

500ml bottle poured into pint glass 18/3/14

A clear pale golden yellow with streams of tiny bubbles going up the side, you can pour as much head as you want really, 3 fingers of soapy foams easy to muster, good retention and lots of random soapy lace

S massive amounts of tropical fruit, heaps of pineapple, some passion fruit, and nectarine, maybe just a little green grass faint hint of pine, a little lemon, not much going on really but I love it, smells so strong though I can smell it of the table

T just a little toned down but still awesome, not a whole lot of malt going on just a little dry cereal, I see wheat on the label but wouldn't guess it, just heavy on the tropical hops I really can't complain

M light and fluffy, just a little grit, I get a little cereal and pineapple on the finish

O so fresh and hoppy, its simple but so good, light and fruity and so easy to drink, 4.4% so you can keep drinking them

I've already drank quite a few of these in my short time in OZ and I'll be drinking plenty more at this rate. Sweet session beer no doubt, this stuff just sinks into my stomach.

A 330ml bottle with a BB of March 2014. Picked up a little while back from Trembling Madness in York. The label mentions that this brew is inspired by the Pacific ocean and is hopped with Galaxy.

Poured into a tulip pint glass. Bottle conditioned. A bright, hazy golden hue with fine sediment and light carbonation. Yields a large head of white foam that lasts for a minute or two before subsiding to a patchy surface layer. Aroma of juicy hops with hints of white grape, melon, tropical fruit, citrus, subtle grass, light malt and earthy yeast. Lovely.

Tastes of fruity aromatic hops with a dry, bitter finish. Notes of white grape, pineapple, tropical fruit, citrus, grass/hay, light malt, earthy yeast and faint stewed hops. Well-attenuated, followed by a delicate bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and dry, with light carbonation and a decent body for the style. Would benefit from enhanced carbonation and texture. Mildly astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of fruity hops, subtle bitterness and earthy yeast.

Rather nice - a refreshing, fruity pale ale. Looks decent, even though the head doesn't hang around. The aroma and flavour are a showcase for fruity hop notes and yeast, with the light malt playing second fiddle. OK body; could be livelier. I also can't help thinking that the malt presence could be beefed-up a little. Certainly very drinkable - this would be perfect on a hot day. Worth sampling if you have the chance.
