Notes / Commercial Description:
"Four is truly a light yet flavorful beer. The recipe uses a good portion of wheat and incorporates a sour mash into the process to make it slightly tart and extra refreshing. It has delicate aromas and flavors that span a range of floral, grassy and herbal notes. The finish is extra dry and makes the beer a great beverage to pair with food, especially various cheeses and shellfish."

Malts and Grains: pale, wheat, and munich, rolled wheat
Hops: hallertauer mittlefruh
Yeast: french saison

Poured from a 750 mL bottle into a pilsner glass. I don't see a date on the bottle.

Appearance: Pours a translucent amber/gold and leaves behind a finger of light, white head. Plenty of carbonation bubbles can be seen rising towards the surface.

Smell: Very light aroma. Lemon, light citrus hops, wheat. Light and refreshing smell.

Taste: Lemon zest, citrus rinds, some nice grassy tones but very little funk, some peppercorn. Very crisp finish and light flavors.

Mouth-feel: Medium to high carbonation with a light to medium, slightly creamy body. Extremely smooth finish.

Overall: A very refreshing, light saison. This beer has a delicious, crisp, light finish to it that really makes this one refreshing and tasty. Tasty grassy flavors and a very light feel to it. Definitely recommended.

50 from trade - split with Ryan over some BBQ. Poured a cloudy golden color with a bubbly white head. The nose is sweet, with dry grains and florals throughout. Taste is deliciously saison-like. An easy drinker with a crisp bite and lemon tartness. Offers up fruit esters and a zesty finish. Loved it. Could drink a case of this a week during the hot summer months.

A: Big show on the pour, giant soapy white head tops a hazing dark wheat coloured brew.

S: Overall the smell is clean and approachable, plenty of freshness of lemons, tart apples, yeasty bread & pale malts with clean minerals and a mild barnyard funkiness.

T: Clean minerals, lemons and tart apples make this immediately refreshing and an easy drinker. A pleasant mild bretta yeast supports the minerals without detracting from clean feel. Spiced with white pepper and coriander and wheat profile throughout.

M: Dry and crisp with a fuzz of carbonation supporting the dry profile. Delicate and light as expected, unobtrusive with a meal.

O: A delicate drink that is an excellent introduction to brettas, clean and crisp and an easy drinker.
