"Five is a farmhouse pale ale that was born after enjoying a few small production European brews that use a heavy hand of hops. Ours blends several Mt. Angel grown varieties to create a deep and complex flavor with an underlying earthiness. Pale fruit aromas created during the fermentation brighten the profile and bring the beer balance."

Malts: organic pale,organic caramel
Unmalted: rolled barley
Hops: willamette, liberty, perle
Also: xanthohumol (bottles only)

Old review from notes.

Bottle from Libbey - I'm not big on saison/farmhouse but I'm trying to appreciate them more.

A: Pours orange with a huge head. Lots of lacing.

S: Fruity smelling with a bit of hops and spicy yeast. Very little malt character - less than I would have guessed from the color.

T: Slightly bitter and spicy - very nice smelling beer.

M: High carbonation and medium body. Very dry finish and a slight tongue tingle.

O: Very enjoyable - as I said in the beginning of my review, not a huge fan of the style but it's one I'm going to go back to again because it's a nice change of pace from either hoppy or roasty (my usual go-to beers).

Thanks again Matt.

Pours an unclear orange with absolutely massive head. Took a while to pour everything...

Smell is crisp and fruity with notes of Seville oranges, chamomille and a hint of bitterness.

Taste is like a bitter chamomille tea with hints of yeast and soap.

Mouthfeel is medium, with prickly carbonation.

Overall, a nice farmhouse pale, drinkable and effervescent.

Bottle in trade from Solidfunk, thanks for the opportunity!
Bottle straight out of the fridge had huge carbonation. Murky deep yellow color with a huge frothy off white head that eventually recedes. Lemony tart earthy spicy hoppy nose. Lemon and orange peel in the flavor with earthy spicy resinous to counter. Pretty tasty farmhouse ale.

On tap. Clear amber color with creamy, off-white head. Aroma is very floral with a quite clean yeast profile, also slightly malty. Taste is also really floral, slightly malty at first but gets more bitter and earthy on the finish. Light body with medium carbonation and slick mouthfeel. A really clean and floral saison, very easy to drink.

Bought this in November, 2015. It ended up being my last beer of 2015 and my first beer of 2016. Hoppy new year!
This beer looks amazing. It pours a warm, almost glowing golden-orange amber with a tremendous cap of foam. Wonderful aroma, like an intense dried orange peel and cracked pepper note, along with some dried hay and a squeeze of tangerine. It's a tasty brew, with a drying orange and straw character and a long lasting finish. Stunningly delicious.
