On tap at Belmont Station 10.19.2010 $2.75 10 oz. pour into Delirium Tremens mini-snifter.

Minimal head, scant broken layer of tan head on top of cloudy orangish light amber body, no visible carbonation. Nose features a big aromatic bouquet, pears, banana, cardamon with a bit of floral hops. Taste mirrors nose, but this is a pretty tart beer, reminds me a lot of Seven, a bit of vegetal hoppiness from fresh Nuggets, leading to a banana-y finish, with hops becoming more prominent as the beer warmed. Mouthfeel is pretty full, a bit undercarbonated IMHO. Pretty good drinkability. I'd certainly call this a fresh hop farmhouse, another fine offering from Upright, though I might consider a different hop variety for next year's offering.

Had on tap at By the Bottle here in Vancouver, WA...

- Nice cloudy light straw yellow and glowing orange brew.... fizzy white head.... leaves a nice thin pillow on top.

- Grain, sweet honey, Belgian yeast.. banana... clove, earthy and pine hop... light esters...

- Flavor much like the smell... a very smooth balanced blend of biscuit malts, grain, honey, sweet breads... light esters.. hops....

- Light to medium bodied, slightly creamy... leaves the mouth very dry which isnt a bad thing... love how drying it is...

- Overall very flavorful and well made. I haven't had a brew that I disliked from Upright.

Tasted during the Portland fresh hop festival. Sampled several times with consistent notes.

The beer pours a peachy, golden amber color with good head retention and lacing. On the nose this beer is most impressive... showing plenty of orange marmalade, honey and white pepper. The flavor profile replicates the nose, except the moderate (at most) sweetness one gets on the mid palate is slowly pushed aside and dominated by a considerable amount of hoppy bitterness in the finish. There is really a nice amount of tropical fruit in this beer, that the hoppy bitterness counters very well. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a fairly soft, fairly long finish. Drinkability is pretty good in what I would guess is a 7% (could be a bit more) abv. beer.

Really nice beer, and one I wish was available on a semi regular basis. Ah well...
