Notes:
Light and hoppy is the perfect way to describe Uncle Jesse. This West Coast Session Ale is perfect for the person looking for the hoptasticness of an IPA, but not all the alcohol. Dank and citrus notes from the hops outweigh the balance with the subtle honey malt flavor and aroma.

Color, head on point for an American Pale Ale. Very bitter for a session ale - by 'dank' I guess they mean all cascade hops and unfiltered bits of bitter trub floating throughout the beer. May be somebody's bag, not mine.

Comes in pretty much a light orange, looked substantial, but ultimately this one didn't come through as pretty as the beer. Aroma was pretty muted, a little bit of pale toasted honey malt and some hops. Not bursting.
Sessionable, there isn't a ton of hop flavor or bitterness here, is decent but not really a good format or pricing structure for bombers. Especially when I can just get 4 packs of Alpha session or 6 packs of Even Keel, I don't think this will be a repeat purchase.

Pours a murky dark orange with a foamy beige head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Thick swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Small chunks of sediment are seen floating around in the beer after the pour. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, citrus zest, and grapefruit juice aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest, grapefruit juice, earth, and herbal hop flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that is drinkable, but nothing really stands out about this one to me.
Serving type: bottle.

This was a darker ale, very delicious and high in alcohol. I think it had a perfect overall flavor and would recommend it to those who like a full body beer. Glowing with rich color and delicate notes of sweet chocolate smoked coffee. It is a heavy beer for those looking for a fun bike ride.

The beer and foam came flying out of the bottle and all over me and the floor. A little later trying to pour it into the glass it quickly foamed up half of the glass. The body is a hazy straw color though.
The aroma is grain and apricot.
The taste is fairly well balanced and light tasting. There's a touch of metallic, but it's mostly lemon flavored.
The texture is crisp with high carbonation.
A poor beginning and the rest is okay.

Pours a clear amber color with a thin, white head that leaves little bits of lacing.
Smells of big pine hops with some tropical fruits.
Tastes of the big hops with a small malt backbone. Hops lead off with pine and floral notes backed by tropical fruits and citrus. Herbal bitterness comes through. Malts lean in and add a touch of toasted bread and some sweetness. Finishes up with some earthy hops leaving a lingering bitterness.
Mouthfeel is medium with a crisp amount of carbonation.
Overall, I really like this. It is hop heavy with low alcohol, and I wish it was sold in 6 packs.

I had this because the place I go to has a rotating tap. This is a new beer that they are showcasing. I was pleasantly surprised. This is a local beer and it has an outstanding aroma and almost a reddish appearance. I went back to the pub just for this beer and will do so again.

This pours a light, golden amber color with a brisk, bright hoppy aroma to it. The flavor is pleasingly bitter with some pine and resin mixed with a grapefruit-citrus note to it. Nice finish. Overall not a bad brew, and definitely one that’s easy to drink. I’d have it again.

this is a great session ale that will appeal to hop heads... it does not disappoint.
the pour is really surprising and frothy -- nice 1.5" head of foam forms nice big bubbles and sticks to the side of the glass... impressive.
the aroma is really fresh and beckons with up front hop aroma.... mild grassy malt background and a good enticing waft of slightly spicey slightly citrusy hops.
the taste follows suit and is supremely sessionable. this a very well made, crafted beer... the malts provide a really rich drink and a little sweetness and the hops are up front and fresh tasting... the finish is superb, very dry and clean.
of all the new wave of session beers out there, this one goes right to the top.
EXCELLENT BEER!

Pours a light amber color, about a medium/light wood stain. Quite clear. The off-white head puffs up nicely at first, and there's good lacing and retention. The aroma has a fair dose of hops, though a bit less than expected from the label description. That said, it's a nice blend of tangerine, marijuana and spruce, in that order of strength. There's a fair bit of crystal malt character, as well. Wish they'd pulled back on that more. It just gives a bit too much of a caramel, brown sugar tone to the aroma. Possibly, a touch of diacetyl but not so much as to be a major concern - sort of like some British ales. The taste starts with light caramel-ish malt sweetness but dries out and the hop flavor picks up. Nice mix of citrus and floral hoppiness. Lightly bitter finish. Carbonation is average for the style. Otherwise, mouthfeel is fairly light and a bit oily. It's easy to drink, and I quite like the style, but the darker malt doesn't sit quite right with me, and the beer doesn't otherwise offer enough to make me want to come back for more. Still, it's a nice attempt, and I think they had a good thought with this beer. It just could use some tweaking for my palate.

Pours out straight gold with a solid inch of thick, white head. Very decent lacing gets left behind.
Citrus, pale malts... and citrus dominate the smell. Smells like a low ABV hop bomb to me, I'm in.
Pale malts, grapefruit and cumquat mingle up front. Fresh cut grass and slight hint of minerals finish it off. Goes down very smooth.
This is at the high end of a "session beer", but it has an abundance of hoppy goodness. For $5.50-$6 for a 22oz, I'll be adding this to my summer beer list.

On tap at GHS.
Appearance: Hazy peach flesh colored body capped by a thin, clinging head.
Smell: Pretty dank and grassy with a nice pineapple-y tropical fruit character. Marijuana, dried oregano, a touch of pine. The malt backbone is largely hidden.
Taste & mouthfeel: Very dry, with a clean and balanced bitterness. Hops are at the forefront, bringing an enjoyable mix of marijuana and herbal notes along with pineapple and grapefruit. Slightly spicy and peppery toward the mid-palate, with a negligible malt profile. Nonetheless, this does have a decent body. A grassy, slightly vegetal note builds on the palate after half a pint; it tastes like dry hops were left on the beer slightly too long. While this would be a better beer with a cleaner, brighter hop profile, it's pretty impressive stuff nonetheless.

Hazy gold with minimal off white head. Low retention and little lace. Aroma is of dry grass and grain with floral hops intermingled. Taste is on the lighter end for an APA, but good with grain forward flavor, a nice fruitiness, and sufficient hop notes of green grass and pine. Mouthfeel is medium-light, but with pleasant dry finish. Overall a respectable brew.

had a tulip of this one at golden road in los angeles. hadn't heard of this brewery so reckon it's worth a taste. orange-amber colored beer that left significant lacing along the sides of the glass. floral notes were the first thing i smelled, followed by something yeasty and bready. less citrus than i would have expected - try the taps cali gold for a solid west coast xpa - but this isn't bad. good dryness on the finish; medium-light mouthfeel. wouldn't seek this one out, but i would also be content drinking this again.

On tap at Rogue Ales in San Francisco.
Flowery, light style of a hoppy beer. Not much malty sweetness, but a light biscuity taste. Earthy sort of hoppiness along with some orange peel. Light-bodied mouthfeel. Resiny and pine scented aroma. Fragrant, hoppy nose with a suggestion of jasmine. On the woody side on the tongue. Could have been more carbonated for the flimsy body, but certainly drinkable enough. Not all that bitter for the mouthful of hop flavors.
