Cola brown color, about medium body with a little more carbonation than I'm used to for this style. Aroma is malt, roasted malt, some coffee and chocolate. Taste is similar but does have a sweet malty flavor that could be toned down a bit. Overall it was still a decent porter

Dark brown porter with lots of sticky lace. Nose is coffee and roasted nuts. Broad but not overly strong finish, with a touch of smokiness and roasted malts. Brief hop balance and more coffee in the finish. Decent complexity and solid drinkability. A nimble porter that still delivers an authentic porter experience. Worth a try.

On tap at Birrotecha.

Pours dark red with a decent head. You know what a porter looks like, I'm sure.

Smells of rough grain and very mild hops. The flavor is dominated by rough porter barley (which I like), but the back end gets a bit too sour and sweet for my tastes. Coffee and peat up front and in the middle and then sweet yeast on the back end.

A solid enough American porter but hardly an exemplar of the style.

Overall, a solid, tasty porter.

Poured from a bottle into a glass.

Cloudy, dark, raisin colored. Fizzy head that settled to a skim and then dissipated completely. Smells like roasted malts, coffee, and chocolate. Taste follows with a pleasant dark roast, but without too much unpleasant char or astringency. Mouthfeel started sparkly and biting, mellow and smooth in the middle, and flat toward the end. Good body.

Not a big porter drinker. This one is nice. Balanced. Toasty. Not overly filling & very drinkable

It pours dark opaque black with a small tannish head. The smell is somewhat sweet with caramel notes and some booziness. Some burnt notes in the taste and even some oakiness. Medium body.

Pours a dark brown color with a half finger of head. The nose is nicely roasty and likely the feature of this offering. The flavor profile has a touch of sweetness and not much roast. The body is solid for the style.

My third sampling of Evolution Brewing. Excited to try this one considering how much I liked, especially Rise Up Stout, their other offerings.
Poured out of the bottle, it appears dark brown and looks nearly black in the glass. A thumbnail length high head recedes into a creamy film that retains and laces well.
Served cold, it takes a short bit for the aromas to emanate. At first there is a mild roasty quality along with a faint creaminess. However, soon enough, as the drink warms, some nice aromas are unlocked. Most prominent amongst these, is a nice interplay between caramel sweetness and dark chocolate. There is also a nutty and light coffee roast quality. Furthermore, towards the end there are hints of earthy pine resin and even a slight whiff of alcohol.
In the mouth it is fairly smooth and medium to light in body. Very easy to drink and even sessionable. I feel that there is a slight wetness in the mouthfeel and cola like quality. Perhaps some of the nuances from the aroma did not come out as much in the flavor. It consists mostly of roasted malts, coffee and a slightly creamy sweetness. There is a somewhat bold and resiny hops bite in the finish. Decent balance.
Overall, a simple, decent and drinkable Porter.

12 oz bottle. Pours black with tall, creamy, beige head, lively carbonation and nice lacing. Aroma is of toasted malt, herbal hops and dark chocolate. Body is medium and slightly crisp. Taste is of toasted malt, chocolate, brown sugar, dark fruit and herbal hops. Finish is long and bittersweet. Ok porter.

Poured black with only a trace of brown head.

Smells the part - nice roasted malt smell - smokiness.

Some roasted flavors - but lots of sweetness. A bit of chocolate and some fruitiness ending in a sugary, tacky finish

Way too carbonated for my liking, really making it a challenge to collect the flavor.

Not a big fan.... needs a little more substance and better mouthfeel IMO.

Bottled on Jan 2017 notched on label.
12 oz. bottle poured into a tumbler style pint glass

Look- Poured black and mostly opaque. 1 finger tan foamy head with very little lacing that quickly vanished. After that, no head to speak of.
Smell- Sweet and malty. Coffee, roasted malts, chocolate.
Taste- Sweet and slightly bitter. Roasted malts and a hint of hops. The alcohol was more pronounced than I would have thought for a 5.8% ABV beer.
Feel- Thin to medium bodied and slightly creamy. Under carbonated.
Overall- I was disappointed. I poured a second bottle to see if it was any better, it was the same. I did get a thicker head from a more aggressive pour but it disappeared just as fast.

The beer pours out into a Duvel glass an almost black color with some dark red tones. The 1/2” head is a tan color and leaves no lacing as it recedes. Sipping creates a few legs and patches of lacing. By mid-way through the beer the ring and some lacing persist and the surface still has a complex thin pattern of foam.

The aromas include a light smokiness and a touch of dark roast from the malt. There’s a bit of dark fruits in the background and just a suggestion of burnt malt character.

The light flavors are much as expected from the nose with some dark roast from the malt and a bit of smokiness. But there’s also some dark caramel sweetness along with chocolate, some coffee and touches of fruitiness. The sweetness is balanced by some light bitterness.

The mouth feel is on the light side of medium bodied and creamy smooth with soft, gentle but persistent carbonation. The medium length finish begins as the sweetness fades allowing the coffee and chocolate to show a bit before following. At the end there is some dry bitterness from the hops but no sign of burnt character from the dark roasted malt.

This is a drinkable porter and one I’ll keep an eye open for to be able to revisit. The overall balance of aromas/flavors is just complex enough to be interesting but at the same time light, and pleasant enough that one can just sit back, relax and enjoy a tasty porter. While I’d not place it above or in the same class as some of the best porters I’ve tried it is well done.
