Had at the brewery in Salisbury.

Frankly, this to me was a bit of a letdown. Seeing the scores for it from here, I went in expecting a memorable, top notch porter. What I got ended up being pretty mild and watery.

It looks nice, black and with a thin tan head, but that's the best thing about the beer. It smells like roasted grain and a little bit of coffee, but it's pretty light. The flavor to is pretty plain and lacking. Somewhat metallic. The feel is watery.

Overall underwhelming. Usually porters and stouts are my favorite styles of beer, but at the Evolution brewery I'd stick to their much better IPA and DIPA.

based on others' reviews these bottles are variable from frothy to flat. (mine flat... )

a - Pours a dark brown body, near black, with fast fade inch of tan head and no carbonation evident. No retention or lace. Flattish.

s - Scant smells of roasted malts, smoke, chocolate, and light bitter coffee. Very roasty.

t - Better. Tastes of roasted malts, chocolate, light caramel and interesting (7?) malts, and light coffee. Sweeter than the nose and more chocolate, which I like a lot. A step up from the nose. Agree with Alstrom - cries out for oysters.

m - Thinnish body. Flattish. carbonation. Pretty easy to drink.

o - Overall a fair at best porter. Would not order it again.

Look: very dark brown, with a light tan head, two finger head began to dissipate almost immediately
Smell: light scent of yeast, malt and maybe a hint of coffee
Taste: mild flavors of malt, coffee, and dark chocolate; dry finish, with the faintest aftertaste of bitterness (like a very dark chocolate)
Feel: very smooth, almost silky, but not creamy, very light carbonation, light-medium body
Overall: Nice flavor, nice mouth feel. It's nice. I'm not in love, but maybe we can be friends.

A: Black in the glass with a deep brown color at the edges, and a medium brown head.

S: Roasted grain and a touch of coffee. Finish is molasses.

T: Nice roasted grain, and molasses, with a touch of coffee in the finish. Simple, but quite delicious.

M: Medium to medium light in body, with fairly high carbonation.

O: Overall pretty tasty, I could jam on this all night.

A lighter porter, good enough to drink two, accompanies Jack Daniels quite well. Advisable, yet not that repeatable . . .

Poured from a bottle into a shaker pint, the beer has a fizzy, low profile, light tan head that quickly dissipates once the carbonation bubbles out. The beer itself is a dark, deep, molasses coloring, almost black. Aromas of chocolate, subtle roasted notes, hints of coffee bitterness, nutty sweetness, and a subtle toffee rich character. You really have the let the carbonation fizzle out before you can get down in there on the nose. Flavors are rich and roasted forward, with bittersweet baker's cocoa forward, subtle toffee notes, hints of coffee and cream, and earthy tones. The body is extremely light and effervesced by the enormous amount of carbonation. There is a subtle chocolate and toffee aftertaste that lingers through the crisp, clean, effervesced and bubbly finish. Tasty beer.

Sampling a cellar temp bottle poured into a tulip glass. the beer pours a dark cocoa brown color with fizzy beige head that fades immediately after completing the pour.
Aroma is sweet chocolate malt with some brown sugar and a bit of toffee. No hops nor any booze is apparent on this malty beer.
First sip reveals a silky smooth texture with a minimal gently rolling carbonation that makes the beer easy to drink.
Flavor is what nose predicts with all malt flavors. Chocolate and brown sugar dominate with a bit of roast in the background. Not any hops to be found on the flavor profile either.
This beer has no booziness and drinks very easy. A decent porter with no flaws. It isnt mindblowing but i am enjoying drinking this tonight.
