Bottled January 28, 2015

pours murky dark orange, one finger head and quite a bit of fine floaties.

Big whiff of grapefruit in the nose and strong. Some lemon too but this is very citrus smelling. some bready malt profile is there too.

Taste follows with hit of citrus hops with generous amount of bitterness but not off-putting. Reminds me a bit of victory dirtwolf. Hops back off some and some cracker malt balances it some. Some candy sugar sweetness and then piney hops thrown in for good measure.

Medium body and medium carb. Sticky and leaves a coating in the mouth. Light bitter aftertaste.

Very well made DIPA. reminiscent of dirtwolf but this has a little bit more bitterness but also more sweetness to balance it out. A little heavier and not as much drinkability though. I'm glad I went for this on my local distributors recommendation.

Grapefruit and citrus rind dominate the taste. Taste is bitter, dry, and slightly oily. An above average imperial IPA, but I have had way better in the style. Would not turn down this beer, nor rush out to get it.

Pours an organish copper color with a two finger head and great fingers of lacing all over the glass. A great looking beer. The aroma is of greatfruit hops with earthy hops presen also. The taste is a caramel malt backbone with grapfruit hops, earthy hops and citrus present. The mouthfeel is moderate carbonation. The drinkability is good with the alcohol well hidden and the beer being an easy drink. Overall its a solid beer but in a crowded dipa market it is close to the top but not top of class and needs to do more to distinquish itself.

Pours murky and orange with a soft glow in the body of the beer. Decent head of creamy foam that fell pretty fast to some shimmering lace and a thin layer of bubbles on top. Nose is tropical, orange and herbal. Juicy citrus with a good caramel and breaddy malt spine in back. There’s some pine and resin and a faint whiff of soap that doesn’t last. Taste is intense. Grapefruit and tart citrus, pithy then the sweet orange. The malt stayed strong with toasted grain, a little nutty and caramel. The alcohol was warming but not overly present on the palate even though it does show up more and more as it warms. Good oily body and the fruits really lasted throughout the drink next to such a strong malt presence and hop bitter. Finished dry with some bite from the bubbles and a lasting bitter. It even glowed a little in the aftertaste. It drank a little heavy and had a full body but it was packed with flavor that made it really enjoyable.

A very good DIPA. Pours an orange/amber color.ostly clear. Medium size white head with good retention and thick lacing on the glass. Strong aroma of citrus hops (grapefruit). Taste is citrus hops and biscuity malt. Very good bitterness.

Mouthfeel is crisp and dry. Rich enough for the style. Not at all "boozy" Very drinkable for a hophead. Nice

Hoppy without being overly bitter (?), is such a thing possible? Dark amber with rich creamy head, hops, malt and chocolate(?) on the nose, malt first then hops in the taste. Malt on the finish, with some hops dragging it out.

Have enjoyed Evolution # 3 IPA from a bottle and was stoked to fill my growler from Whole Foods with the DIPA. Poured into curvy Duvel Tulip Glass. Beauty, eh?

A: Copper . Lacing is not clinging to the surface of the entire glass, but looks like some message left in intricate handwriting. Pretty cool.
S: Yep, grapefruit.
T: Complexity is there , just as I remember the Evolution #3 or maybe a DFH 60. But somehow this is as drinkable as a session beer, even with an elevated ABV.
O: overall quality far exceeds the sum of it's parts. Somehow Evolution has produced a top of class DIPA that remains subtle.

Great initial burst of strong, balanced hops and notable sweetness. All flavors carry through nicely for a lingering and pleasantly bitter finish.

Still searching for a fresh bottle of this. Reviewed beer is from June, so about 3 months old.
Good brew, great go to in MD with little competition (Flying Dog, Duclaw, etc...)
Good, but wouldn't seek out unless super fresh.

12oz bottled January 2013. Served at around 45F.

Pours hazy dark orange witha two finger white head that leaves impressive drippy rings of lacing and holds a good cap.

Aroma is orange, tangerine, floral hops, some pine, some apricot, decent bit of caramel malt. Good to very good strength but might be a touch past its prime.

Flavor is more orange and tangerine, fruity hops, moderate caramel malt in the middle with some sweetness, decent, but not great bitterness on the finish and mild to moderate alcohol.

Mouthfeel is medium-plus bodied, creamy, moderate carbonation.

Pretty good DIPA. Don’t think I’m trying this at its best, would love a fresher sample, but good none-the-less.

Served on-tap in a 10-oz. brandy snifter glass at the Pickled Pig Pub in Rehoboth, Del.

A: Poured a clean, clear and bright copper color with orange-amber hues beneath a creamy, two-finger head of white carbonation which stayed for most of the brew.

S: Rich, floral and fruity aroma with hints of lush citrus, grapefruit and coriander.

T: Sweet caramel malt flavor hits the palate first, with a smooth blend of specialty grains. The rich, fruity palate is quite nice, throwing spicy citrus and bitter rinds into the mix. A tropical blend of fruits ushers in the bitter, resinous and herbal, citrusy hop finish. The aftertaste is surprisingly clean with a satisfying, bitter bite.

M: Full-bodied DIPA, but pretty balanced and smooth throughout. A little hot and boozy, but not enough to disturb the palate.

O: A very nice DIPA from Evolution, I look forward to having this out of the bottle someday soon. The 9.3% ABV is sturdy and provides a strong malt backbone for the bitter, grapefruit and hoppy resins to go to work. I'd get it again for sure!
