Poured from a newly tapped tap into a snifter glass

A: Dark amber/brown in color with a decent head and some lacing.

S: At first the nose was a bit closed, only getting malt and some nutty flavor but as it warmed I got a much greater nose of grape aroma.

T: This beer has a sweet taste with malt on the front and grape on the back.

M/D: Medium bodied with nice carbonation. Went really well with the burger I got. Pretty drinkable, but I would probably only drink one or two. The alcohol was covered up nicely. A solid beer by an up and coming brewery.

A growler filled at the brewery on 25-Aug-11.

A: The strong ale has a darker color, reddish-brown like a good bockbier. The darker colors don't diminish the transparency of the ale. A white head, nearly a finger on pour, quickly whittled away to a wispy band.

S: The nose is sweet, a combination of darker malts, candi sugars, raisins, and a prodigous yeast strain. There is plenty of boozy head amongst the ale too, giving a fuller strength to it. The sweetness is Belgian, a dubbel/quad hybrid to me.

T: The sweetness of the raisins, darker and lush, is immediately evident. Those raisins lead into the malty body, again more sweetness thanks to pale malts. The yeast strain accentuates that fruitiness. The ale is very big, a mouthfeel on each sip. A low carbonation level gives the ale a digestif feel, a firm drink. Big indeed, the ale straddles, possibly even falls over into, the Belgian realm. An accessible imperial dubbel.

M: A big sweet ale. The growler will be a challenge but I did use a glass from the growler in my chili base. Sweet enough to counter the fiery heat, I hope.

Got a growler from the brewery and poured into a pint glass

A- Awesome copper color, it is a bit cloudy but it doesn't take away from the visual appearance. From the growler, it creates a nice two finger width beige head. The head subsides fairly quickly once you start drinking.

S- Not picking up on a lot of aromas initially, as the beer starts to warm up, some mild cherry flavors can be detected and some sweetness.

T- The taste is pretty sweet, not a lot of hops to balance it out. There are some mild hints of cherries and malt. The finish is kind of dry.

M- A medium to heavy body. Nice carbonation filling the palate.

O- Okay beer, not their best in my opinion. But one to try at least.

On tap at Max's today.

The beer pours a reddish copper amber color with good head retention and decent lacing. Don't get a lot on the nose, but what's there is pretty nice. I get some sweet malt and nuts, along with some light vanilla. On the palate, this beer delivers a considerable amount of flavor, with sweet malt, mixed nuts, light sherry and light vanilla. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, with the beer delivering plenty of flavor. Drinkability is OK, though there's a bit of an alcohol bite in the finish that I'm not totally in love with. Along with this beer's sweetness, it detracts just a bit from the beer's drinkability. Otherwise, this is a pretty solid beer from Evolution.

The beer poured a cloudy copper with a white head. The aroma was of slightly sweet malt. It tasted of rich malt with a slight citrus twinge and a bit of hop in the finish. The feel was medium and wet. This is a beer you could drink all night very comfortable with a new twist.
