Nice spring beer. Not too heavy nor too light. Refreshing spice. First Evolution Craft Brewing Co beer...enjoyed it.

The beer pours out into a Duvel glass a clear reddish amber color with a 1" ivory head that soon recedes. Sipping creates very few small patches of foam that soon slide back down to the liquid.

The aromas include malt, floral and some herbal components.

The flavors are much as expected from the nose with the floral and herbal pretty much in charge. In addition there's a fair amount of sweetness as well.

The mouth feel is on the light side of medium bodied with some very light carbonation. The finish begins as the mixed floral, herbal and sweetness begin to fade out all at about the same time to allow a hint of bitterness that also fades into almost dryness.

Overall this is workman like beer that would be easy drinking for some but isn't anything that catches my interest enough to want another. This strikes me a a good starter beer for someone used to soda pop who thinks they don't like beer.

I am continuing to winnow down the backlog (od especially bottles) here at Chez Woody and things appear out of nowhere. I think that I bought this at The Friendly Greek Bottle Shop, but who knows for sure?

From the bottle: "ale brewed with hibiscus, chamomile and honey".

This seemed like a pretty mellow beer, so I gently Pop!ped the cap and instituted an equally gentle pour. The effervescence was obvious from the fizzy head which dissipated quite quickly, but continued to fizz and burble. Color was Deep-Amber/Light-Copper to Copper (SRM = > 13, < 17) with NE-quality clarity. Nose was unmistakably honey with a flowery, perfume-y accompaniment. Mouthfeel was thin and watery. The taste was very much honey, no question. I have had meads that did not taste of honey like this. Wow! The finish was mellow, tea-like, with the chamomile beginning to kick in. There was even a light lemon tartness to the mix. I was reminded of Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Tea. I think that I shall go sit in front of the television for a bit.
